In any case, ECB in full control in the euro and rate cut is around the corner with awful macro numbers this month (including key Germany starting to struggle) and more important with inflation below undershooting expectations. Stocks look ready to ride a final "more free money" ECB cut wave with plenty of fuel on the current lows and a lot of early "bears" on the high that will trigger a extended overshoot on stops before May expected sell off. High of the year in play in equities. Low of the year in play in Gold. Consensus on .25 but .50...
That's a bold call
...doable, but would need a moderately deep recession across the board.Anyways, i agree on your fundamental rationality but the problem is that the euro, for some reason, does not agree.
As you know, i've been saying for months, the eurozone fundamentals are crap (if not the crapiest). For some reason, the market seems to still link the euro's value to a potential gov default scenario...simpy weak data is not going to bring the euro down against a 85BLN/month money printing machine. And for some reason, bond traders do NOT link the weak data with the increase in probability of a sovereign default.
To put it shortly...econ data is weak and weakening in the EU (now also in germany) while, at the same time, bond prices in italy and spain are rocketing.
Which is what is backstoping the euro's fall...
Which is were the politicians are wrong in terms of manipulating the market because the mindset in euro trading is linked to sovereign default. But it should be linked to economic data. Europe needs a weaker euro and the politicians need to hint strongly on that. EU's growth needs to come AT THE EXPENSE of its currency....just what everyone else is doing.
It's NOT the RIGHT thing to do...but it's hard for me to see a better alternative.

I am done for the day, no trades. Its bad that the market bent over for the GS BS yesterday, worse that it hasn't stood back up and retraced the move
