A question for TAH & Sonic - do you guys take any notice of the actual tick volume values, or am I out on a limb by taking them into account? {image}
Islander, everybody picks their own tree to climb and what limb to perch on. If you are asking if "per tick volume" is helpful, I don't know. I suspect not, because I have never seen it and I do fine. I use normal TF volumes, but highlighted via (PVA) to make it easier to associate price bars with volume bars, and their relative changes in significance, which is the most important and reliable aspect of volume but only if analyzed relative to S&R. And this display, I am finding, has no peers even though forex volume is not even true volume, as we both know! Combined with the Dragon and Trend, PVA is excellent for gauging both breakout (Classic) and reversal (Scout) Sonic R. System trade setups.
Forex volume is only a count of the trades during any TF, and only those on the broker's server. Each new tick updates the previous total of trades for the TF with the additional trades since the previous tick. I am not sure even what you mean by "per tick volume", but I coded a volume indicator that displayed on the chart the number of those additional trades on each new tick. It was fun to watch, but otherwise meaningless. What is meaningful are the significant changes in volume across TFs, and where the price is relative to S&R when those significant changes occur. When volume is used with price in that way, you can throw all the other indicators away! They won't be needed because you will absolutely know if the MMs are bulls or are bears, and you can better determine your trading strategy based on that fact, a fact that no other indicator can yield up to you, let alone so quickly and with such reliability!
Frankly, standard price bars with a standard volume histogram works, too. The key is not just in the changing "volume", it is also in where the price is relative to S&R when changes occur. The PVA approach just makes cognition easier. And the actual amounts of "volume" are not that important either. It is the relative change that is, and that is why even though different brokers will show different volumes, it does not matter. All broker volume histograms will show similar relative changes about the same time and for the same reasons, the "reasons" being exactly what we are after,....the MMs are either bulls or are bears and are unloading or loading up. So, what is it? We need a view of S&R from historic PA and from the divisions of whole numbers to see where such activity is taking place, and where price has come from, in order to find what we are after.
I'd have to say that as "stand alone" data, "per tick volume" is totally useless, and from all that has been said here I think you can see why. If you want to determine if the MMs are bulls or are bears and are taking profit or loading up, then these considerations are what is important:
1. relative changes in volume, not actual amounts of volume
2. where price is relative to S&R when relative volume changes occur, and where has price come from

Letnanfaw, I am a serious, diligent Sonicer. And one thing I do each time I come back to the computer is to take some time to view all posts since my last computer session.
You apparently are not a serious, diligent Sonicer or you would be doing the same thing. If you had been doing this, you would already know the answer to your question because I have already answered it at least serveral times in the last several weeks!

Master sonic, why everyone is posting their own analysis and not discussing Sonic R system, all i see is scout trades and some other methods but not sonic r trades discussion. Prof. Tah i like your scout trades and trying very hard to understand the PVA. i hope i will master it by following you for months. you have been doing a great job. thanks you Rdz
The "Classic" trade is the original trade. The requirements for the setup are fully discussed in the Sonic R. System Manual (in brief) linked in Post #1. The Classic trade is considered a breakout trade. It can appear after price has been ranging, but it can also appear near the highs or lows of large moves.
The "Scout" trade was introduced about a year ago by Master Sonicdeejay. A trader cannot trade a long time and not be thinking that there has to be a decent way to trade price reversals, not just breakouts. The Scout trade is such a trade, but it's requirements have never been adequately documented. That is because we can never know when the reversal will actually happen. One high can be followed by yet another. One low can be followed by yet another. No one can know if a high, or a low, is the last one!
More on the Scout trade
As time has passed, Master Sonicdeejay led the way by always using volume as a main parameter for his Scout trades, essentially looking for high volume apparently ending a good run, and then waiting more for actual PA to show the proper HL price waves in the opposite direction and without the Dragon being involved, as it would likely be nowhere near the current price area at the time.
My most recent Scout trades take the use of volume a step further, by analyzing it not just in terms of ending a price run, but also in conjunction with S&R and where the price came from. This helps to determine if the MMs are bulls or bears and if they are taking profit or loading up, not just if the price might have made a final high or low. Once that determination is made, I believe the Scout trade can be more reliably entered. This is still a work in progress, but if the results over time are worthy, then eventually we will have well documented requirements for the Scout setup, as we already do for the Classic setup. Meanwhile, I continue to post my trades, Classic and Scout, as I always have.

No doubt all that red represents a heavy selloff, right down to the half number area where a short spurt of high trading seems to have temporarily stopped the drop. So, what does it all mean?
Here is a possibility. The active MMs have sold off, but they did not want to sell too cheaply, so they ceased selling around the half number. Perhaps they know that when the US MMs come to the table, they too will want to sell, but not starting at such low prices. The US MMs might drive the price up and then execute their own heavy selloff. That would give the currently active MMs a second chance to resume selling at higher prices.
If this is the MM's plan, then it only remains to be seen if the drive up is started before the US open or not, and just how far back up the MMs get the price before wacking it again.
As I see it, the bottom line is the MMs are bears and when the US market opens we might see a Sonic R. System Classic short trade re-entry opportunity. This same applies to AU and GU, both having PA similar to EU today.
