ummm you have missed the point. Our troops abroad take an amount of their wages each week in local currency, with the banks closed they cannot get it.

So ATM's don't operate in Cyprus? I believe they do I spent many summers there.

Could be they are worried that a run on the banks will see an inability for Cypriot banks to be able to offer the funds held.

Sorry to hear that, but you are against the trend, Andrea Merkel, common sense, Cyprus, Russians and Eurozone...
Catching bottoms today is like jumping from the top of the building thinking "I'll try, maybe I can fly..."
Certainly it will bounce sooner or later, but news will quickly bring it back to lows...

you are still missing the point -

1) the banks are closed
2) the atms are not working and have big queues
3) the number of service personnel from the UK in Cyprus is large, they don't all go queue at the atm each week it would be an endless queue
4) I would expect that they normally have a cash delivery from the bank to the bases and then the cash is distributed to the personnel as part of their wages.
5) so only a few would have taken out cypriot bank accounts

Here's my 2h chart with next 2 potential targets, also note the top TL and bottom TL coming together soon as a falling wedge 2960 - 3060 of course news and Cyprus could throw this off but we'll see. Should get a bounce back to 2900 range

1.2830 is the next support I have. I wouldn't hold it this far but I wouldn't close it neither now. It may well bounce, that is possible for sure...
