Allisonmagic:

Hope you got yer 80 pips and ran on that EUR/JPY daily deal. NFP just jostled everything about. Then again, this could be just a temporary movement. A bounce off the Kumo going above The two dragons are always a good sign and price hasn't come back below the daily candle yet either. I get twitchy during NFP. Don't trade it myself. Might not trade all day today. Thanks for starting the thread!

Almo:

Let's all chant GO, GO, GO ! Hope the pips stay green for ya. Actually I know yer already break even and hence the money is already made.... Perhaps this is a more appropriate chant.... TAKE THE MONEY! TAKE THE MONEY!

Sincerely,

LL

I still struggle with the TP idea when using Ichi - just seems like we are supposed to attempt to remain in the trend for as long as possible.

I ran into the same problem today with my EU trade

Yes. Trading ichimoku we have to let our profits run, since we are using a trend identifying system. I just set break even after 10+ pips, and move it up 1 or 2 pips for every 10, if i see a break back into the cloud i will take profit then. but this way we can avoid losing money during news events

Has anyone tried using a smaller timeframe for an entry, and graduated it to a higher time frame entry/exit? Say you see a setup on the 15M and you hold it till th 1hr shows a setup, then perhaps the 4 hr shows a setup and then let it run till 4hr says out? I don't have the patience yet and my targets are usually pivots or zero level. then possible re-entry after those levels.....

I used to do this. i would use daily and 4h. but it's not perfect entry like i want(no entry is ever perfect). now i use fibonacci and pivot levels for entry and use ichimoku to determine how strong our trend is

Yes - although I end up making adds at each , and treating each trade as separate. Combining all of them to the 4 hr chart can really put you behind if the 4H ends up going against you.

Allisonmagic:

Did you ever find a solution to the problem that Almo presented?

Almo,
I feel the same as well, but that can happen on any deal right? Ever done any backtesting on say the amount of deals that this happens to compared to say the same number of trades from a lower timeframe? If it pans out that those are similar, we can still assume that you can still trade them the same and attempt to get in on the bigger moves.

Public Enemy: Your thoughts? You have seem to be another one that uses the longer timeframes...

personally, I know that there are much larger fish to fry on the longer term chats, but I can never remember to check the 4Hr every candle... The daily is easy and just started on that one...Weekly might be to long for my beenie brain to watch for....

This is the problem I was referring to.. The only thing I have come up with is tightening stops... Good discussion on What I have been trying to come up with.... Multi-time frame analysis with add on's from smaller time frames graduating to higher timeframes as the trend picks up momentum..... But when to exit. Another problem is.... It's complicated and I like Ichimoku kinko hyo because its relatively simple... My laziness wants me to keep it simple, and my greed and love of analysis wants me to find more...Always searching...

so you want to know when to exit and enter

Yes Sir..I love to have longer time frames using ichimoku..and I dont have a good reason to change it..I tried several months using 1h TF and my acc just jumpin arround like roller coaster ..and trading became so stressful..

I was was wondering how many higher TFs everyone uses for confirmation? I have been trading off H1 with confo on both H4 and D1, but might move up to H4, which would mean I use D1 and W1. I'm not a fan of using W1 as it turns so slowly, so was going to only use D1 as my confirmation. Thoughts please?

At the start of a trading day, I'll check the higher TF's and make a mental note on where they are - after that , I drop to something a bit more intraday.

I'm using the standard settings for ichi, with a couple added additions, here are a couple things i've added and how i get my signals:

#1. Metatrader for my signals, and indicators

#2. henkan ashi

#3. 5 period and 10 period exponential moving averages for re-entry and exit(the arrows in my chart are based on this, with email alerts)

#4. RSI

#5. demark trendlines

I use tradestation for executing orders, and metatrader for sending me signals

This are great indis .. Does the arrows repaints?

Good Day fellow Ichimokies. Had a great day and I am back to share a couple of my more profitable trades. For a monday, the markets were really moving. These are pictures of my usual type entries. Many green pips to all.

Public Enemy: I am getting interested in the higher timeframes for sure... Please tell me, Do you check every 4Hr candle? What about at night? Set alerts, etc? Thanks.

Sincerely,

LL
