The death of the leader of a large oil producing country happens, an OPEC member, a country where oil fields were nationalized and could, as a result of Chavez's death, eventually be privatized again. i do believe it is a who gives a shit. only questions are did venezuela get their gold they asked for a while back from the usa ? and isnt their oil producers nationalized ? if so oil may think they may open up but thiers nothing to that affect yet. so i believe it is a who gives a shit for the moment.

As for the Chavez news... the oil market didn't seem to flinch. At least not yet (if it does). Was partially priced in it seems. Probably also waiting to see wait happens next.

Sorry for being vague. With his passed away, investors will see it positve for South Korea. Just pure speculations. KOSPI shows nothing spectacular from this news.

With his death should boost demand for Venezuala bonds in USD. Probably will see that after few days as who will take his place. If so demand for USD or conveted to local currency.
