Quick newb question: Since I have a long position on EU; if I hold it and it gaps down after week-end will it hit and close out at my SL?

It will be executed as per opening price.

For example:

SL 1.3000, opening 1.2980, this will be executed.

TP 1.3080, opening 1.3121, 1.3080 will be executed instead of 1.3121.

If it gaps down you will be closed at market open regardless of S/L

Example; if you have 20 pip S/L and market gaps 50 you will be closed @ -50 market open

Technically, the answer is "it depends". It depends on where your SL is.

In reality, if "the gap" is your biggest concern, you should reconsider your trading strategy.

Wish that spike happened 30 sec earlier. Shallow pockets makes me worry over gap so had to get out.

Seriously, on the trading floor of a bank, how many people are fretting about "the gap"?

The only place in the world where I hear about this gap is on forexfactory.com. But I never been on a trading floor. Maybe some of you have?

You overleveraged the position not about shallow pocket. You long at the bottom range should not worry about gap down at opening if not overlaging.

i never left open positions in the weekend so i don't know this kind of broker behavior...
in this way you can lose more than expected? (and gain more, on the opposite side?)

I don't quite understand what you're saying.

It doesn't matter if the S/L is "tight

If the S/L is 5 pips and it gaps down 200 pips over the weekend
then you will be closed @ -200 on market open
That's all there is to it

No, I don't agree. But I don't have any money on it
I don't like holding trades over the weekend anyway unless
it's already in some "serious" profit
