I put the ea on a 15M chart and had a winner. Now a sell trade is active.

I think the 2-15 has is to slow for the 15M chart, what do you think?

As I posted the h1_m5_h4 produced 4 S/L how are the other settings workin out?

I changed now to h1_m5 and goin for 100 pips, S/L200, no trailing.... lets see
My tests are just to see that the code is working the way it should, so they are not intended at this point to show what the EA is capable of. I stop and restart a lot as I have been working on the next version so all I know so far is that the EA does what it is told it to do, and the next version with MM will be even better.

I have started testing the next version and I have one more minor addition that I will make today, then after that I will start testing for real again, but other wise, all looks good.

I hope I get a lot of reports back as to how it has gone so far.

Everyone remember, this is not a scalping EA, so the more settings you turn off and the smaller you make the pips filter the more prone to Chop you will be. We are looking to get into the best long trend, so missing a couple hundred pips at the beginning of a 1000 pip run should not matter, we can't pick the exact entry and exit, all we want is the middle of the best runs.

I really don't want to discourage you or anybody following this thread. The fact the nobody could find the profitable way to use it, doesn't mean that there is no way. Probably you are just the right person to discover this secret. So just keep trying.
My personal experience shows that to make profitable the system based on mtf Heiken Ashi, you should trade without stoploss or any deposit protection at all. It is either TP or MC system. Of course you should have a pretty decent deposit, you should trade tiny lots, be prepared to very big DD (hundreds or even thousands of pips), and be ready to wait for weeks or even months for the trade to finally hit a tiny TP. But as soon as you introduce any algorithm to close out losing trades, the entire system becomes a loser. For me these conditions were unacceptable. But, I'll say it again, it doesn't mean that you won't find the solution.

I am looking for input as to any trader who has had experience Basket Trading, are we wasting our time here???? Looking at the KOS thread and those before him I see that maybe some have had success doing it the manual way, is trying to duplicate this method with an EA a waste of our time?????

Is the manual way also a loser????

I need input now or version 4 is dead in the water and will not be published and I will move unto other ideas for EAs.

Spot on there, made my pips filter 180. PA changes to ranging and now a handfull of losses & BE trades on the 2 Basket ea's I am running on different platforms.
Tempting to manually increase & decrease filter for decreases & increases in PA.
But letting this ea run as is to see if a market change will provide it better trend periods. As you said "middle of the best runs".

Awaiting vers 4. Will load it with similar settings where possible.
Havent seen this ver 3 do anything it wasnt meant to. Very impressive quality program you have put out Seller9. My thanks again.

Dont worry about the problem nay sayers. They dont highlight how to trade through ranging period and provide nothing constructive.

There are threads about basket trading with more than 10k comments, there are threads trading with HA and HAS with more than 10k comments too. I don't think there would be that much activity there if it would not work. Then comes someone out of nowhere, and with 2 comments try to shut down this thread - and there is no proven facts, logic, reasoning in those comments, just general bullshitting that everyone have heard before 1000+ times about anything you can find in connection with forex.

Moving averages doesn't work, breakout strategies doesn't work, price action doesn't work, news trading doesn't work, heiken ashi doesn't work etc-etc.. Apparently nothing works in forex, we should stop trading and find better ways to pass our time.

I say: please don't stop developing this EA (I think it's already good enough in it's current form). This is a longer term trend following method, there will be periods when the market is going nowhere/everywhere, and there will be losses, but eventually there will be a nice smooth move in one direction when we can recover our losses and generate profit. Just look at the charts with, or without the HAS and see it yourself if formatix raised doubts in you.

I've running the EA on a demo account with M5 triggers on H1 (no H4 filtering), and there were 4 bad baskets this week. Maybe some tweaking would improve the performance, since I traded the 14 pair basket manually on M15 this week, and there were 1 loss and a couple of breakevens and a small win so far this week.
I pretty much had the same experience as posted by Zool above. The market has entered a ranging period and is choppy. This is not the time to be evaluating the validity of a trend following EA. You are a superb coder since the EA is doing exactly what it is supposed to do but I think we have to tweak it regarding how we use it. To that end I and many others here will experiment with the settings, particularly the stop loss, crosses etc. I have by no means given up on this. I am also extremely leery of anyone who unequivically states that something will definately not work particularly when it is in the development stage. Bumblebees can't fly, you know.

I am not trading basket method but hope I can have some input to you. For the past few days, the basket(more or less the GJ) is choppy upward. And because your EA is with pip filter, sometimes you will get in a bit late and then the basket turn at this point and hit your tight SL and making the result not appealing. IMHO, you EA is of good shape but every EA got its DD day,right?! You can't avoid this in a choppy enviroment especially JPY is very emotional nowadays....just my 2 pips.

@seller9, i trade KOS method the manual way and via the GVC EA , it is one of the best system i have ever found in forex as it cuts out all the tensions a traders has with regard to news etc . i did try your EA and it did took the first trade with a small profit of 1.6 usd but then it never took trade which normally it should have , probably because the H4 was still in blue. I used your 3 set file , which has H4 H1 and M5.

One thing i have noticed is KOS14 is the Real Basket as it moves pretty fast and that is the one, one should trade to get the real taste of basket trading, core 5 is little slower but a good one as well . I used to trade core 5 with mixed results in live , like some going for 100 -200 pips and some hitting 200 pip sl , however i used to see that KOS is having consistent result with his basket. I was risk averse so opted for core5 but then after opting for KOS14 i see the real difference.


HAS 2 15 2 15 is good but is little slower. In your EA you have opted for core 5 to do the experiment . I think your EA has become complex , it should be simple like GVC EA , GVC EA is manual where as yours is auto. see all it has to do is take the trade when H1 HAS changes color and keep sl at 200 and tp at 200 but once the profit hits 100 pips or 10 usd for .01 lot the sl should be set to BE . and then it should be allowed to run which means u move the tp another 200 to 300 pips away.

Generally in KOS 14 ppl make 1k pips in core 5 the max i have seen is 700 pips.

so 400 -600 range say 500 pips is a good tp .

another thing that i would like to say and use in live is , i am very careful for weak sell , weak is one where the HAS 2 15 2 15

changes color but you have the 200 EMA below so that is acting as a support so I take it as weak sell , here we need to be careful , either we ignore this trade or we take it with strict tp , we should be happy with 150 tp in this case.

overall BASKET is not a fake or a flash in the PAN but it is 100 % real and u can really make money in it. Hats off to KOS for the amazing system.

There is one guy tanvi who is doing well with 1 10 2 10 HAS with RSI 14 below or above 50 for confirmation .

I am using 5 21 ema as my first warning for trend change. one can enter using this signal as well with 1 10 2 10 for confirmation .

The result of hitting sl will be much less as we enter early .

Using pip filter you are getting in very late as the signal HAS 2 15 2 15 itself is slow and top it with your 200 pip filter you are entering when the trend is nearly exhauting unless it is big trend in H4
I see ppl commenting about HAS without understanding anything about it , I just want to ask them one question what will u say to moving average , it is also crap ? if u say moving average is fine then HAS automatically becomes fine .

I can reproduce the same result of HAS with just moving average. for me HAS is nothing but moving average. u can use HAS u can use moving average.

Yesterday i used HAS on EJ 5 M and made 100 pips , just trading it , if it is crap then ppl will not make money out of it.

I just used camarilla for help , as it gives perfect figure where the price will hit.

Noobsters hitting SL and then crying is common, let them be. As u pointed out earlier about being in a long trend thats the whole point of this EA (atleast for me). What you have incorporated in the EA is classic and there is no need to tweak anything else now. The only thing that I miss in the EA is M15 entries and exit (proper KOS way). HH - LL entries (Reverse M5) works great. I use MM so mostly all the trades opened by the EA have resulted in profits.

I agree with u. Ppl who dont trust them (MA/HAS) shud stay away from the thread or atleast post something constructive instead of trying to demoralize.

Here is a screen shot of the new spread filter in version 4, I have only had it running for about 8 hours so far and you can see what the spread has been over that time period (Demo acount). Will be interesting to see what it looks like in the morning and after Fridays close.

I´m not the manual trading crack because of mostly used ea systems what I recognized ist too that the HAS within this market is too slow. Pips mostly are gone when ea enters. This EA as it is right now is just geat it must be only tweaked in a way to go into market a bit earlier. Seller9, very very good work til now

I second this. Put a moving average on chart with a period of 15 and smoothed method, applied to close. Then put a second moving average with same settings, but his one applied to previous indicator's data. Now put HAS with 2 15 2 15 setting to the chart. Compare. Check HAS when the the 2 MA cross each other.

Yes, you are correct, HAS is just a moving average of a moving average, a SMA15 of a SMA15, the HAS just looks neater when put on a chart, so like most traders who have traded the HAS know, you are just trading several moving averages and waitng for the cross.

The 2 15 2 15 is a rather slow moving average because we are just looking for the longer trend and are trying to stay out of the chop in between runs.

The basket tries to help get rid of some of this chop noise but when all the pairs are in chop it is hard to do and an EA has a hard time seeing the chop as it can't see into the future and know when it is comming.

So we try to give the EA some room to chop by the use of the pip filter, of course this will leave some pips on the table, but I don't know of any trader, despite what they say, who can pick the exact tops and bottoms for entries and exits.

A few weeks back manual traders and EAs were making a killing using the HAS Basket Method as we were in a monster up trend, so every one looked great, but now that we are into chop the same techniques don't work as well.

This is where an EA will show up the weakness of any system that a trader wants coded and claims to be the holy grail.

Thats why we are trying to get as close as we can and then use our gray matter to do the rest.
There are many $99 EAs on the market that have been curve fitted to a specific date range and look just great when back tested over that same period. But in a new time frame they fail and wipe out your account because they do not adapt to changes. There are also so called experts trying to sell how to learn trading courses and they always seem to show stocks or currecies from the same period of time when it was in a strong trend, hind site is wonderful.

I know of option courses that only tell you to buy calls and puts, they never mention to look out for volatility or time decay or a few other things, just buy, and we all know what that can do to your money.

I had a stock picking program once that was a commercial product that claimed to pick stocks and would give you an alert when you should buy. Well, it gave an alert one day and you would buy but then the next day the alert was gone and the stock was going against you.

So maybe we are beating a dead horse here, but I guess it won't be the first one and probably won't be the last. After all, MT4 was invented by the Brokers to make it easy for them to get your money.

Here is a short trade that opened about 24 hours ago, I am just using the M5 for trigger and the H1 for direction, you can see the other settings in the info panel. Its is still chopping but has a downward bias.

This is version 4 with the MM added, you can see it is not the exact latest version 4 as the info panel doesn't show the minSpread and the maxSpread, which are 22 and 57, will be interesting to see what they do when the market gets close to closeing and also opens again on Sunday, of course this is a demo account, so maybe the market maker doesn't play as much with the spread as there is no money for him to make here.

The black area on the chart is where some debug info was located, I just erased it as it is not part of the Posted EA.

I'm Trading KOS Basket System from Last November and i have taken around +9000 PIPS by following 4HR Chart - Manually

recently(from Jan-2013) i have placed HAS 2-3-2-4 on 4 HR chart

so now i have two HAS
a . 2-3-2-4
b . 2-15-2-15

i use HAS 2-3-2-4 for Exit and Re-Entry

please check this , whether this can help to sustain during Ranging Markets
