Genesis Matrix Trading

Good morning to all! Made my 60 pips this morning on the EURUSD and the EURJPY. I did it with just price action and the Average Trading Range. Price was near the bottom of the Average Trading Range. Price action showed it was going up. Took the trade. I do not expect much movenment for the rest of the day! We all will have a great new year ahead of us!

As expected: on the higher TF the moves are almost near their end once Genesis turns and the last 3 signals have proven it (hardly any pips in it and higher than average drawdown). Here are the updated stats anyway.

Haaaaaaappy New Year Genesis Fans I hope everyone had a great Holidays. Best wishes to everyone here for a profitable 2013. I got a good start with today's Asian session allowing me to grab 52 pips mostly on EJ and GJ. I didn't trade UJ but it also had a nice run. My New Year's resolution is to, starting this month, do my best to target 50 pips a day and follow the projected trading equity plan put forth by RJ a couple of months ago. I've also seen a table/chart that shows how much one can earn by making 25% of your current account balance every month which is doable, but I'd rather focus on the pips than the money. My other trading resolution is not to overtrade. This is, hopefully was, as in past tense, my biggest trading flaw. I'm much better now than I used to be but there's still room for improvement. Like the Nike commercial says,"Just do it!"

Hi Olli,re 4 hr TF trading why are you letting the dd go past -35 pips,I thought your
analysis 0f -35 compared to -50 dd you made previously made a lot of sense?

Looking at those last 3 trades compared to your earlier ones I wonder if it was more a matter of the "holidays" and their effects on the market....or I could just be emotionally attached to the idea that someone, someday may be able to make genesis work on the 4H charts. The boss doesn't like me looking at charts all day!

That's what I meant in the previous post:
I doubt very much that orders flow will be back to normal until next week so I would continue to take any H4 data with the same pinch of salt as I did since the onset of the holiday period.

I am only posting the data and it's up to anyone how they want to trade it. It was originally an exercise to show people how to devise a(any) strategy using pure data/numbers on top of H4 Genesis with the request/hope that others might do the same with different FX pairs & share their work/strategy but bar 1 or 2, sadly no one else has been interested/bothered....

Re 4 hr system

took the time to do some backtesting,twicked things some

1--take every entry
2--SL at 35 pips as suggested by Oli seems best (eur/jpy a little higher
cross more volatile)
3--take full profit at 45 pips,reason is that partial profit is good,but full loss
ain't that good, so the RR works better with taking your full profit and run
4--after 20 pips in profit move your SL to B/E plus spread, great great filter
backtested 3 currencies from august and 4th still working on it

If I made some mistakes hey,my eyes ain't that good
didn't use anything but Genesys Matrix to enter trades

Re: Genesis system on the H4

I have been looking at the H4 charts on other pairs as well. Pairs that trend most of the time seem to do well on H4, such as EURJPY and EURAUD. I have come to realise that on higher time frames, the CCI period 20(2nd row of matrix) is a bit slow. Period CCI 20 seems to work well on lower time frames to keep out of fake entries. Most of the time CCI14 and CCI20 change color on the same candle, but on a few occasions CCI20 is late by one candle to have better entry on H4.

I have also played around with Stoch settings for H4 and 14,4,6 seems quite good. The places where the stoch comes from the overbought or the oversold match well the genesis signals.

I am posting a screen shot of entries on EURJPY for from Oct 1, 2012 to Jan 3 ,2013.
Entries :
Solid blue line : BUY entry triggered at +4 pips away from the high of the signal candle.
Solid red line : SELL entry triggered at -4 pips away from the low of the signal candle.
Dotted blue line : BUY signal that wouldn't have been triggered with a pending order of +4 pips above the high of the signal candle
Dotted red line : sell signal that wouldn't have been triggered with a pending order of -4 pips under the low of the signal candle

Notes: most signals seem to go into profit right away. Some signals go into a small profit (10 - 20 pips), then retrace, go into drawdown and then go back into profit. I guess it all depends of where the SL is placed if the order is closed in profit or not.

Exits:
- close trade when TVI changed color and the candle closed. It seems to keep the trade in profit longer and ride the trend when one is in place.
- close trade when full matrix closed with opposite color, kind of like a signal to signal trading


This is just a visual backtest, without exact data like Oli's, but I hope it can help others

Exit @ WP1 after PA stalled.

I'm posting my H4 analysis based on Oli's suggestions. Wanted to post with charts for each month, with signal and entry lines, but my MT platform modified all my lines for unknown reason. In excel document, just for practice, I've tested "strategy" which was based on entry signal +/- 5 pips from high/low of the signal candle, BE on +20, and exit when is at least one genesis signal (dot) of opposite color formed. Turns out to be quite bad strategy

Anyway, wanted to share with others.

Personally speaking, I would prefer the cut & thrust of M5/M15 trading.

I would get bored out of my skin waiting 4 hours for the next candle

Here we go again.....another year of market watching, trading and learning. Welcome to 2013!!

I just got back from Holiday so I will spend a bit of time getting back into the swing of things before putting some cash on the line. In any case, the market is not back into full speed yet so we shall see how it goes.
