have been doing this forex business for a year or so now.
I'm not profitable with real money but I am a champ with the demo. I act in a blink of an eye with demo and do lots of scalps in a day, keeping my losses real small, but with real money I think too much still and also hold on too long to losing trades.

For a very long time I only watched the thread. I must say attila was the main reason for me becoming a member here. It was not his unbelievable calls - I have to mention once again he does not make any calls only provides the thread with his opinion since I want to prevent any ridiculus tought that he is one of those "signal my %%&&++^//&%" guys on the thread, a few days ago he made a simple joke which was taken very seriously -
but his way of thinking about the FX trading. Then I joined the thread and found out that he is not the only one. For instance 5 percent has a complete different way of trading the cripple and I learnt alot from his posts. Needless to say Max Doom is a master and he is open to teach the newbees like myself the way he trades this thing.

However, there are many new members coming here with a complete idiotic attitude and making some calls, many of them dissappear or end up in my iggy list or some old members who have nothing to share except the size of their %%&&//%%&&/%.

I was expecting a much more professional attitude here. I don't expect any of the respected members to make calls but expect them if a newbee like me says the way he/she thinks what could be possible concerns for that trade and if it was right for them, just say so. Of course they are not obliged to do this. I am a man of love and always seek for it. If I can help anyone when I can - sometimes I can't - I force myself to provide the most I can.

So, my observation is the attitude problem going on here. I have a few ideas to turn this thread to turn into a more civilised environment but in the end this is all internet and people tend to act much different than they actually are in their usual lives. It is like we Brits on vacation, in Ibiza we roll on the floor and act very royal as soon as we land on Heathrow

Anyway, I still think this thread is helping me get better and will stay here as long as it stays that way.

I couldn't agree with you more.
There are guys here that deserve respect for their knowledge and more so for the fact that they don't mind sharing.
I am running the risk of sounding like a cliche but I wish that Cloggie was still around.
Shame he left.
Bit of a short fuse but brilliant at this business nevertheless I had a teacher like him back at high school.
He is the one I remember and thank the most now(the teacher). But he was a pain in the a$$.

We're all capable of doing better and clean up our act while still having fun.

The whole "my internet penis is this big" thing can only help degrade the thread. Ditto for the constant calls related to other pairs.

Did you guys know for example that I have an opinion about the EUR/TRY pair? In fact, it's the first time I bring the subject up, and the last. It doesn't belong on this thread. It's one thing to have the occasional comment about another pair, but I see more talk about the JPY here than I do when I visit Japan.

Because of the way I trade, there are long periods of time between entries and exits. There's also long periods of time when I sit on the sideline. My pledge is to give my best shot to help others and not kick up too much dust.

Newcomers who "want to belong" making idiotic calls is the nature of this site. Many don't even get to 100 posts and the life of their accounts is often much shorter.

Moving forward, I'm on the sidelines and waiting until next week, most likely after the 1st, to prepare for an entry.

I would be more than happy to hear that mate, my mum is Turkish, I travel to Istanbul and Bodrum almost every year and my great uncle is known to be the "master of diamond & gold artists" of all time in Turkey and his sons have been running an FX exchange office - the oldest one in Istanbul in Kapalicarsi. I made a killing in 2011 before the election in Turkey with TRY/USD with shorting it around 1.90s and received an amazing swap deal for more than four months. My broker was calling me almost every week when I would be willing to decide to close my position . If you are interested in that pair, I can provide you with the "market" knowledge I am aware of, as mentioned before my cousins are running one of the largest foreign exchange office in Istanbul and they can smell the blood much earlier than any analyst sitting in London or New York. I am looking forward to some levels being hit and I would be more than happy to share it on this thread if anybody could make use of it

If we want the Star Wars Cantina, we got it. If we want a very dry and serious place, we can have that too.

I'm not trading it but I do keep a close eye on it and might eventually pull the trigger on a trade.

Perhaps a separate thread on the topic would be in order?

I guess maybe it's raining in SoCal and I have nothing better to do...so in the spirit of being helpful and informative, let me get on my soapbox and throw out my 2 cents worth of opinion...

For the vast majority of the 90% that are not profitable (as there are always a few exceptions), IMO, this thread is not and will not be helpful to your bottom line. If anything else, it will hurt your trading and/or hinder your growth as a trader. I'm not saying that you should never read or follow or participate in this thread...far from it. But please only do so once you're done trading for the day or during slower market hours or during the weekends.

When you're working for someone else, you can get away with a half-assed effort, and can still go home with a full-day pay. Not so when you're working for yourself. Trading is a serious business and it should be treated as such. To me, it's a job. When I'm at work (London Session), I do my work by focusing all my attention on it, and I don't allow myself to get distracted by the web. How the hell can I focus on my setups if I'm too busy reading, posting, and arguing with people that I've never met and will not meet on the web? Even more important, trading is such a mental game. How can I have the confidence in myself and my system to enter a trade (or let a trade run its course) when the hordes are screaming the opposite? And most important, how accurate are the screaming hordes? What is their context for screaming? Do they have the same time-horizon as me? Or are most of them just the same losing ass-clowns (90%) that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground? Hmmmm....

I don't know about most of you, but I just cannot be successful operating in this chaotic environment. But if you're one of those multitasking gods with military-level discipline, convictions and balls of steel to thrive in this environment, then go for it. For me, I'm just not the type, and would venture to say that most traders that are following/participating in this thread while trading their real accounts (especially newbies) aren't either.

As far as I'm concern, the only people that should trade and post at the same time are the ones that have been proficient in this business for a while (the 10%, if you know what I mean), or those that are trading H4 or higher charts.

Again, I'm not advocating EURUSD abstinence for newbies or the 90% non-profitable traders. I'm just saying...stay away from this place when you're busy trading. Only come here to learn, to ask questions, to banter, to sling mud, to have a dick-swinging contest, etc., when you're done trading for the day, or during slow hours, or during the weekends (as I do regularly read, often learn and occasionally participate in this thread...but only during the appropriate times).

With that written...time for me to get off my soapbox.

EUR/USD has been statics at 1.3217 for hours and it didn't even move 1 pip up or down. Something is very wrong, don't know what to do. Want to open short but really don't know where to put the stops and set the target, same as long.

No kidding really something is very very wrong with this pair. It must have been manipulated.

If you are on the democratic camp, then your best interest would be letting it fall. Republicans will be slaughtered on any national TV for that and the Democratic camp will have someone to blame if economy doesn't start kicking in very soon ! On the other side , Republicans they know that next term in Presidency will be theirs and they will need all the money can be pulled out - this is doesn't happen with increased taxes on the wealthy ... the only problem is the public blaming , which could be handled by massive campaigning expenditure - and this bring back protecting the wealthy from extra taxes !

Its a stand off and i see no reason for Republicans to lean forward - but Sunday could bring a lot of surprises ..

ya, the same i was teling you 4-5 hours before the close.
i was trying to find some clue... then i ask if someone here can interprete the volume 8hr before the close, a volume interpreter is hard to find and i know something; it was my last hope 3-4 hr before the close i was mad... just watched the volume, there were something wrong in it, strange movements, small amounts of course [no liquidity by that time], but even so very meaningful for me, finally i opened a short on eurjpy and eurusd and watch the close... it looks like a small gap down on monday...

You Know, since Trading is so similar to playing chess - they both have the concept of " Punishment ". So, when you overestimate your opponent or enter a game unprepared or not willing to play - you are punishment and humiliated. .. January and February will severally punish us for missing this Yen trade !

Bro there is a thread, EU Only if you want go there.

This thread has multiple aspects, some looking for scalp few pip, some dust bin pips, some 50-100 some 100-200 etc etc
some in 1min charts some weekly charts, some combination of all timeframes, some use indicators, some dont, some trade fundies some dont, some use corelations between other pairs, etc etc
Some people are genuine try to help, some just are bitter, some put up trade thoughts with charts etc, some just long or short period, some are have a laugh / joke, some give good advice, some give bad

So rather than on 12th post question why this or why that, back read couple or three years and you will find your question has been asked few time already
And answer has been pretty much the same.

99% of everything on any public forum need be taken with a pinch of salt, but now and then the 1% of helpful advice are real little gold nuggets.

If you looking for just easy, lazy gold nuggets, please let me know when you find the holy grail thread.

For me if I concentrating on specifically euro/dollar and there are certain developments with other corelated pairs, I prefer to know before I risk my money,
example, if usd is tanking against most her pair partners and euro is tanking against most her pr partners, ie showing euro and usd strength it is easy to understand why eu is going nowhere, but the minute either euro or usd weakness starts to show, this help see where eu possible next move may be, this is 33% of corelation puzzle, if euro start show weakness and usd start show strength this is even more helpful where eu next move maybe 33% of puzzle the last 34% is the unknown mystery
So if usd is tanking and euro is crashing against ther partner prs, it is not a good time to be buying eu and same for opposite even if indicators and fancy lines and pattern is saying to,
