Many market participants engage the help of dealers at the fx desks of banks to execute their orders. To ensure that they get a fair price and are not being taken for a ride, some market participants want to settle their order at an officially published price.

In equity markets that is fairly simple, and one uses the close. As the fx market (and some futures markets) are 24h markets, fix times are agreed during the trading day, at which time the official "fix" price is recorded.

There are many such times during the day, but those that are most interesting for fx traders would be the ECB, London, and Tokyo fixes at 12.15, 16.00, and 00.50 GMT.

One obtains such information through good connections at the dealing desks, and through news providers who use such information to attract readers.

On a side note, Schaeuble played the Greeks right this time .. they leaked some reports speaking about a contingency plan if a Grexit would happen and its all calculated early on and now when the government is about to run out of money , they demand the Parliment vote first then they take the money !

And what the Greeks can do , threaten to leave the EU ? ...

On 7 of November , they will sign what Troika has asked for and there is no other choice. ( You sign or go bankrupt , its your choice )

There are some strong bids around 50/60 but they are scattered meaning its an illiquid market now and it may face sharp turns when bids/offers are hit through the gaps.

Now crude oil and US stock indexes are pushing pair a bit lower though i doubt it breaks anywhere downside.
They think they are smarter than I am.

Hopefully 60 will turn it's magnets off tomorrow, I got stopped out at 90 earlier. Bit frustrating despite good profit, technically the pair should test 1.3080 but it seems obsessed with 960. GBP long was a better trade today, broke higher and held onto its gains
