agreed somewhat. i'm just talking about what i would like to see and if i do, that is my plan. i will know a false break higher when i see it but i wont bother trying to predict it. it will be what it is

i dont really have conviction either way. i just know that recent lows held and we have our first day of real volume in NY. seems like this is way things will hash out. the only wildcard, which is a big one, is the topside of the move this week

Remember something about today. Month end rebalancing of traders books, and year-end rebalancing by mutual fund managers. This thing could be dicey today.
Watch USD.... I like to watch aud/usd as it seems to lead the eur/usd many times. JMHO

just had a chance to look over some photos of the damage from sandy.

absolutely humbling moment to realise that people have lost their lives, loved ones or homes over these past couple of days and i have been stressing over what the storm will do to the markets.

really puts things into perspective.

thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by this storm.

Yes and they are coming off their highs just because European money went into risky assets doesn't mean US money will follow. Usd/Cad has already done a complete reversal today and is now above parity as I write this. I'm not saying they'll collapse by 4-5% im just saying im expecting a bearish NY

no, you misunderstood...my question was, how can they OPEN down when futures are up ? What the whole NY session does is completely different story.

Plus (a little off topic but still) the storm is actually gdp positive thanks to all the government spending. That is seen as bullish rather than bearish (unless riots unfold in the coming days).

Oh yea sorry I get you now well they can't but I think what was meant, well what I meant, was that we get a bearish NY session and preferably a strong bearish session.

With regards to increased Government spending the Government can't just go spending money without taking from the people first i.e taxes, yes I know QE is completely the opposite but theyre not going to perform QE to re-build NY and its surroundings. The Government wont shoulder the total cost of this. Im not getting into a debate on whether Government spending is positive or negative.

No riots in US......those bastards have alot of rubber bullets, and aren't afraid to use them! No reason for riots anyway. We arsehole Americans do take care of our own in times of need, and this time will be no different.

If futures traders take profits before the open, then NY will open down. Seen it happen many times. Looks like the SP500 is rolling over.

Ahem! How do you think the US got into debt? Its called tax and spend more Democrats and tax cut and borrow more Republicans. Taxes are irrelevant in that equation of political dysfunction!

Yeah, that's a different story. It could very well turn bearish, but for me it's hard to say. London fix is yet to come with the rumors that month end flows ought to be dollar positive...we'll see

hehe, knowing the mindset of american people i sure as hell wouldn't bet on it. Sure, the government will shoulder the cost. Who else ? It doesn't have to do an outright QE for that but simply increase its spending. The new president will see the storm as an epic oppurtunity to grow gdp and lower unemployment...Fck the debt...

Sure, why not. The point in the article (the way i understood it) was that the damages need to be discounted in the market prices once it opens. Futures have shown the opposite with the rally we saw a couple of hours ago. What the NY itself does is another thing but thus far noone in the futures market seem to "price in the damage". Once stock traders get to scratch all hell can break out

That's exactly what I hope doesn't happen we need a good clean break to the downside before I'll have any confidence. I'm in at 1.2960 i wanna see at least below that before I can sit comfortable! We've come back down below the rising TL on the daily lets hope she stays there
