As its a countertrend trade i would say putting it at +1 now is legit.

I hate risk so I tend to move BE very fast, I would say your looking good. Just chase the PA with your SL.

fyi....USDCAD is on my radar for a long up to R1 and maybe beyond...of course I require a lot for a trade entry but a heads up anyway

Edit: this is one of the juiciest setups i've seen in a couple of days so I'm salivating for an entry

yeah it needs to hurry up as I'll probably pass on it after London closes....but gosh darn it looks good (caveat: at the time of this post)

Closed half of my position size just before the M15 arrow appeared. Moved my SL for the other half to the small area of support and aiming for the other support level that it tested 4 times before (@0.99240).

Just looked it up, visually more or less the same Oli..maybe idempotents' talking about the MA values generated on each candle, rather than the slope?

No m5 Stoch was already >80 and it's past my usual trading hours. The hell knows whats going to happen now! (Plus my discretionary use of H1 stoch - absolute no-go trade for me because of that)

That's where it comes down to having a trading plan.....and trading the plan rather than trading by fear.

The size of the account doesn't matter.....as per the spreadsheet, we are aiming for 50 pips/day and the risk is (more or less) *always* the same %age (apart from the week 1 and week 2 ). I will always let the trade run to S1 (for example) because once my SL is at BE....there simply is no losing from here on in.....the risk is removed. 8 times out of 10 it will get to S1 or beyond......on the other 2 occasions it will come back and knock...
Just logged in today (no trading for me today due to my work schedule but what a genesis day!) and I am glad to see I stirred up a nice conversation! I trade a real account and I try to follow my pip goal each day and to focus on % rather than the $.

Nope.

One of my main rules is to never trade after the London Close because activity dies down. In fact, after 8:00 AM New York time is really too late for me to take trades but in this case I was willing to make an exception because the setup looked so good. I'm looking at that buy signal now and it looks pretty weak to me...it would not have passed my own proprietary entry rules.

pmdobbs, agree 100% !!

I am able to switch off all references to £'s with my broker (except input of trade size).

So I only see pips during the day. I will only look at the £'s once a week, to adjust my trade size.

If my trading journal tells me I'm hitting my profit target, then the money will look after itself

Total + 40 PIPS. Not astronomically, but with 0 drawdown awesome.

setup looks too good to pass up plus account is at new highs..

although the setup meets all of my trade entry rules except time of day, this trade is ultimately an aggressive one for me due to the time of day

If you look at 0.9946 there is resistance there which was tested at least several times at the time of entry (and this morning). Also the M15 stoch wasnt perfect in my chart (not much momentum, rising steadily) and H1 stoch was declining strongly.

I see your point..However, I don't pay attention to H1 stoch. The resistance also doesn't appear to be strong enough to deter me from taking the trade.

Ultimately my classification of the higher timeframe trend is more important to me based on my personal stats.

The trade may still work out and although I bailed on the trade, I am more than happy and smiling to take a 2 pip loss because I know a 20+ pip trade will wipe that tiny loss off the map. However, my plan was to keep the trade on a short leash due to time of day which is what I did - I followed my plan.
