not my experience, the norm is they have little effect unless very large.

as for the banks they mainly don't buy/sell just before the strike they already have the currency or are running short appropriately, they are not naked players and the money made on options is normally done with option strategies ie matched call/puts or covered options ie: they have or have already sold the currency at the time of taking the option.

the buy/selling going on is normally just to protect the option not to provide for it - otherwise you would see massive spikes at expiry time.

...but I definitely wouldn't go long unless I caught tape bomb (Spain asks bail-0 or the like).

we could interpetate it really in both ways

at least on this levels on a big picture...true about the spiking momentum - but again true for both directions

Yesterday, U.S. Jobless claims affected all major currencies and pairs when the Unemployment Claims came in higher than expected. Today, traders should look to continue following reports out of the EU Economic Summit as it goes into its second day. U.S. Existing Home Sales will also be released at 14:00 GMT, which will be a good indicator for trading in many currencies and commodities, so my opinion is to watch what going to happen at 14 GMT to follow the market because leading the market will to a very profitable gambling or unlimited loss
