Is anyone else demo all have 0.00 balance after this weekend? I know all of my demos had 0 balance, and most of my tests were screwed up because you can't trade with no demo money. Sigh. And since MB Trading is not working tomorrow, I'll have to wait until later in the week to have them fix this.

It is the same here, after I have been unable to log in that account for a few hours today. Fortunately, it's a demo only...

They did a Demo reset over the weekend. All you have to do is contact their MT4 Support via the website and give them the Demo account number and they will restore the balance.

Why are MBT spreads so wide when compared with other ECN brokers?

I'm sitting here trading a EURUSD around 0.8 to 0.9 pips. How in the world is that wide?

I haven't had a single problem all session. Maybe you should offer some details, like which environment and platform you are using, and take it to their support team instead of this forum. I've run over 30 trades in the last 12 hours with no issues at all.

I first contacted support but because issues still continued I also posted here. Bottomline is that I have had more issues (delayed quotes, strange spikes, orders not going through, slow execution...) with MBT in past two weeks than any other broker before. The platform is desktop pro and its live account, not demo.

Yesterdays issues are now corrected but I am quite concerned what will happen at thursday when ECB will have press conference and also quite surprised that many people here rate this broker so high.

Anyway, I hope this have just been bad period and service will improve., cause I wouldn't like to go through new round of broker selection process...

They sent out an email about the quote issues from last week, and they appear to be resolved as they stated (I track their quote against a consolidated quote of brokers, and everything was on track today).

It did cause some issues with slowness last week (which was the problem by default), but frankly, I've been with them for four years or more, and this was one of the few problems I've ever seen. I've had two orders in four years with execution problems, and they fixed them both and made good. Most brokers have "technology" issues and then you just eat it. So if you are really wondering why people rate them so highly, it's because if you've been around for a long time with them, you know they are consistent, low-spread, and reliable.

I have seen more people over time complaining about things than any issues that I have actually experienced (last week was a legit issue), so I can't tell if people are experiencing issues outside of MBs control or in some cases (I have no doubt about this part) are just making stuff up. But overall, I've tried about 10 brokers, three of which no longer exist, and my MB account is the most consistent.

I am glad to hear that these problems are rare. After all the reason I started with MBT was unsatisfactory service from other, smaller broker.

I hope that I just have been unlucky (wrong place, wrong time) and platform issues won't happen again at next high volatility time.

MBT has one of the best spreads in the fx market. there might be some anomalies, but they are short lived. check this site and compare spreads with different brokers:

Can someone tell me why I was getting major slippage today?

I placed a market order sometime after 11:00 EST today, and it took an entire TEN seconds for it to finally execute, at which point EUR/USD had already slipped up higher.

I got 5-10 pips of slippage again later on when I tried to manually close the trade.

This was using Desktop.

I can clearly see this from the Order Book, as it shows the time difference from when I placed the entry/exit orders to when they were ACTUALLY triggered/executed.

And the order was only a few microlots. I don't understand how a broker can have a TEN second delay in trade execution for a few microlots?

This wasn't even during any news release or anything like that, just some volatile movement.

If standard movement is going to cause execution delays and slippage like this at microlots, then I shudder to think how long standard lots (or even tens of lots) are going to take to execute. MINUTES?

Is this a common problem with Desktop, or am I getting "special treatment" because I've had a high success rate lately? Either way, it's atrocious.

Because either

a) Slow execution/slippage is common, even when trading microlots

or

b) Slow execution/slippage is NOT common at all, which basically means that I'm being targeted

From a logical point of view, it can only be one or the other, so which is it?

Pardon the paranoia, but it seems pretty damn odd that BOTH my entry and exit would get so massively effed up.

This wasn't really an issue when I was swing trading, setting limit orders, and then leaving the computer, but it is a huge issue now that I'm daytrading or scalping price action.

If you're gonna be an "ECN," then be one and don't secretly profit from your customers' failed trades. I can understand if I was trading standard lots during news time, but this was long after any news had broken, and it was a few microlots.

Buried in this thread somewhere are posts in which Justin explains the execution algorithm in great detail.

Judging from some recent posts about trade execution, it would be a good time to repost that algorithm explanation.

It should be made a sticky.

You spoke of trading slightly after 11:00am EST...
that is London "fix" time, and nasty things can happen in a very short period of time.
I used to think I was safe to trade after 11:07am EST.... but lately there are very ugly moves even around 11:15am.

Likewise, there were indications earlier that things were wild today.

I don't know your trading experience...
but if you see multiple 10-15 pip range 1 minute candles during your trading session...
with no scheduled news....volatility is high and perhaps liquidity is low.

After 10:00am EST, things started to get wild, look at a 1 minute chart....
around 10:15am, there is an almost 30 pip range 1 minute candle.
If you see stuff like this, you should scale your position size way, way down or stop trading completely.

So there was warning.... of possible wild times ahead an hour before your trade slippage.

Lastly,
(I know what you're going to say already....but you can, it's a skill to be learned)
..... Use limit orders.

Can you tell me whether slippage/delayed execution would get worse the larger your position size, or is it relatively "equal?"

In other words, would I have experienced an even longer delay in execution had I placed that same trade yesterday but with a few standard lots, or even tens of standard lots?

That is what concerns me most.

I dont know if its gets better or worse with bigger lots. In my opinion it's already bad enough. Whenever there is major news or events the whole system stops working. Either the quotes are 10-20 pips below/above the real quotes or like today at ECB rate decision the platform just freezes.

If you are scalper like me, this makes profitable trading very difficult and is really poor service. I know already that when ECB press conference starts, Desktop Pro platform is either freeze or quotes are several minutes delayed.

I am surprised that Jason have not commented any of the problems seen lately. Maybe after all MBT is not such a great and honest broker. I wish I am proven wrong.

Jason not only explained last week's lagging quotes/charts on this thread, MB also sent out an email with the explanation to every account holder.

Today during the ECB presser, I experienced no lagging quotes/charts and my DeskTop PFL never froze.
