Well that was half (5 pips) gained. I was away for a while and we had some news at 9.00am (better to close positions before news!

But we had a couple of nice bounces on the way up!

The other great strategy is to have pending trades on the other side of the 62 EMA to catch reversals

It's been up and down today on AUDUSD but as look as the bias is continual as it has been with this pair - downwards - then it's great for us because we're looking for bounces all the time!

For EURUSD and AUDUSD I'm generally using the 15 min chart. A good thing to note (because it happens a lot) is that if there is a BRN resistance/support level above or below our EMA "bounce" line, price action will often break through and bounce off the BRN (big round number) - in today's case 1.04 was the line so we would have to adjust our SL accordingly. Also notice how we can "ride the five" just as easily on the 15 min chart!

yep, some nice AU M5 shorts possible, bounced back from BRN, but missed them, only took the recents rise for some pips, EU this morning BE....

You can use the 15 min chart for AU and EU with our system - preferable because one has more time to plan for and set up for bounces. And they are more reliable!

5 min for EJ, CJ and GU

Here we have the AUDUSD 15 min chart a bit further on since our last visit. 2 more bounces. Getting in on the "bounce" means that we get in on the new down move nice and early! Note how far up is the 144 EMA (I'm only using the 144 EMA on this chart - also it's slopping down nicely, indicating a nice fast down-trend.

Well I've worked out how to set it up on the 14 pairs simultaneously! Has to follow your own broker's string of course. Great idea because one doesn't have to have all the charts open!!

I'm going to try it live on my other demo for a week - maybe we can all compare results at the end of the week?

Hi everyone

Well I've set my bounce EA to the 5 min chart as the trend is obviously speeding up - hopefully we'll get some bounces during the night.

We do have to adjust our time frames - i.e. the best chart to use - dependant on the strength AND longevity of the trend - fairly obvious I suppose!!

Will need to practice that! Also, good suggestion to look at AU, seems to trend well and would be ideal for bounce trades.

Yes, but I got caught out last night on the change of trend! Would have been OK if I had set the EA to "MM = false". Otherwise the EA decides to up the leverage and I lost $30 !!

No doubt that one has to set the EA to trade only at times when one can be around so that if we get a solid move/change of direction we can set it up accordingly.

I am still convinced though that it's the way to trade. Takes out the emotion which is vital!!

Hi everyone

Well it was a choppy, zig-zag day for sure!

But amazingly enough when we analyse the chart, there were numerous trading opportunities.

I have marked the breakout, "ride the five" and "bounce" opportunities. Of course we have to make a decision on whether to bounce a trade or place a pending order on the other side of our support line. The best way to decide is check whether the support line is horizontal or slopping. When we got to late afternoon session the line was slopping down - it was a good chance for a bounce which is exactly what happened (plus one could see clearly the lower highs and lower lows earlier which was another indication)!

Guys a little more on whether to plan for a breakthrough or bounce trade.

What one can do is place a pending trade on the other side of the support line AND try a bounce trade with a TIGHT stop loss (say 5 pips). Hopefully we'll then have the best of both worlds - obviously we'll be going for at least 10 pips on the breakthrough trade to get a minimum nett 5 pip gain!

OK

So let's sum up our three MAIN 5 min chart trading strategies.

1/ "Bounce trades" off our 62 and 144/169 EMA support/resistance lines

2/ "Breakthrough" trades when strong price action breaks through our 144/169
EMA's (a neat trick, this one!)

3/ "Ride-the-five" trading our 5 SMA's set to the high and to the low. When
price is falling we look for a nice "kick" off the 5 SMA set to the high after a
small retracement. The opposite applies when price is rising! This strategy
requires watching the chart constantly otherwise we can easily miss
opportunities that arise!

Hi everyone

I have put back on my chart the p1m1t indicator which puts the night session high and low. I've posted below yesterdays chart and todays. Have a look where the Asian high line is (solid blue line) on both charts - what a difference!
It really helps to show the daily BIAS long or short because very often the morning session creates new highs/lows or if price action doesn't break through the lines (like today) is a good indication that the bias is changing!

Also, if you look at today's chart, you'll see that just after the NY session started, we had the obligatory "fake - out" (I have circled it). So what I started to do a few days ago is chart my "market open lines" indicator to show the NY session as starting an hour later (13.00 pm GMT) so we hopefully by that time get a better idea of the trend direction or bias.

thx for info jmtini, obviously my results are a bit different from yours, probably depends on broker. On Tuesday the EA closed trades for +23 pips, yesterday +14 and this morning +14 pips, too. I'm trading on demo EU,EJ,GU,AU and UC.
But also this morning it has red open positins for about -50 pips. This breakout system very often buys the high and sells the low, but got managed so far to collect some pips nevertheless if trend reverses. W'll see how it does today.
I would like to watch the same system doing the opposite, that is to say selling high and buying low. For 10-20 pips that should be always okay, IMHO.

again.... EA could manage today to get the losing open positions from this morning in positive territory und won altogether +8.4 pips, no open trades right now and no losing day this week !
