I've considered opening an account with Oanda. However, after some research, I've come accross some rumors that Oanda has one of the worse reputation for broker manipulation. Rumor is that if you are an "under performing" trader, they'll pretty much leave you alone and your trades are executed in a timely fashion. However, once you become "successful", the manipulation starts: bad fills, no fills, requotes, etc...

Hoping to clear up this rumor (since everything else I read about Oanda has been good), I was hoping to have a poll here: Are there any "successful" traders in here? Let's define "successful" as someone who is trading fulltime and/or is making enough money for a decent living. (Even if you're winning trades right and left, they won't care if you're trading in micro lots, so I won't count "consistently winning" as a factor in being "successful" in this case. You would have to be trading size too...)

Also, If you've been successfully trading with Oanda for more than 2 years, I'd love to hear about your experience.

Thanks!
Dahlia

You need to have an option for "Successfully traded with Oanda - Hated it. Manipulation out the wazzoo. Closed my account and went to an honest bucketshop"

So... I'm guessing that you'd fall the closest to category #2? Thanks for your input and the links.

Oanda will trade against you...
will give different quotes to different accounts...
will slippage you and requote you if they will decide that...

If you know to make money ,you'll make them.... but they will try to stop you.

Shrug. Noticed a few questionable price feed issues here and there, but they've never adversely effected me. Most of these issues are related to news releases, so I wouldn't use them if I traded around news times... but I don't, so it's mostly good.

I think a lot of people just want to blame their broker for their failures.

If you still have qualm about Oanda, then why don't you just use other broker and stay away from Oanda?

The fact that Oanda has the biggest capital among MMs may notwithstanding, because..hey, who knows...maybe their "plants" whom have deposit so much money in order to make Oanda a broker with the biggest capital?

Oanda is the most trusted broker out there. If you think they might be manipulative, you might as well just quit currency trading altogether.

Oh my God, I'd be intrigued to know the logic behind that comment!

truthy, a week ago you were asking how to show min/max on an Oanda chart, don't you think it would be better to have just a little more experience of Oanda behind you before issuing categorical statements like that?

You think???
Hahahaha
I made more 1000% in few weeks.
(Sorry Oanda .This is part of the game.)
They tried all the tricks to take money back ...
People who intend to open an account with Oanda have the right to know even the "dirty games" of this bucket shop.
If they belive or not ,will be their choices.
But in the same time is my choice to tell them what is possible to find at Oanda.
So, if you can :HIT AND RUN

This categorical statement is based on years of reading currency forums prior to trading. Oanda is the most trusted broker, no question about that. Once again, that doesn't mean there won't be problems, but if you think they are out to get you and won't let you turn/withdraw a profit, just quit currency trading altogether because your paranoia will obviously never be satisfied by any broker/ECN.

U can believe it or not i trade with oanda with great results since 1,5 year.
They let me triple my account in less than half year.
I didnt notice stop hunts as someone suggest. Many times my sl has been missed by 1pip and onada didnt use it against me.Sometimes they hunt me down by 1pip with spike but only because i put sl badly when i checked qoutes from other broker and comparing to oanda's ones results will be the same.
Small spreads and leverage manipulation is big advantage of this broker.
Try to play in longer term then you wont give them possibilities to hunt you down

Oh right, you read it on an internet forum so it must be true, of course. I'm taking it you do realize that more than 90% of these people are losing money and haven't got a clue what they're doing? No wait you're not so naiive to just believe anyone, I bet you only believed the ones who said they were profitable or those who said they'd doubled and trebled their account in a matter of weeks.

No need to quit trading my friend, just quit trading with dishonest bucketshops is all you need to do.

I very much doubt you will understand the issue in this thread, maybe one day huh

Happy trading, be lucky!
