SAFT System

Yep, I'm also short EU, plus GU and long on USDCHF. All SAFT trades. Was short on XAUUSD as well, but it kicked back & stopped me out.

EURAUD has run an awful long way without correction lately, is worth watching...

Edit: Market is wary about moving too far today, might not be that many pips on offer.
why do you trade the chf pair?

since the chf has fixed rate of 1.20eur tradin the chf pairs is the same that trading the euro but whit wider spreads and if you trade also the same cross with the eur e/u and u/chf you are taking 2 times the same trade and duplicating your risk.

For me the spreads are the same - negligible, as I'm on an ECN account where I pay a commission proportional to order size.

I've always traded USDCHF, old habit I guess. Yeah the duplication makes it pretty redundant, you're right I should really just stick to EU.

Mind you I'm only trading SAFT on a demo. Won't even consider trading it live until I have several weeks consistent profit using it & consider it superior to my usual trading methods.

I agree. I am a big believer in testing a strategy for a long time and making a consistant success before any type of live trade. It is important to become accustom to a strategy before adding in the stress of the possibility of lose real money.

I saw that you are using LHDT's OBV with smoothing on 'false', which means it works just like the standard OBV. Do you not see any advantages in using the GABI on either?

Well, I see that most of you are occupied with TRENDLINES and MA's.

TRENDLINES are wishfull thinking and interpretation of the past - either a hope it will continue or searching for a "break". It is mainly based on history (and sometimes "ancient" history).

MA's are much of the same with a small difference - it's more adaptive. But again - based on history.

Want to know what is going to happen?
Want to "see" into the near future?

Simple. Volume and Direction will give you the future.

Isn't Price Action the direction?? and OBV well that one covers volume aspect.

The way I view trendlines is the same way one views support and resistance levels. They are areas where price action is either rejected or bounce from and if broken say that the direction changing. So, while they do have some backward component they can tell a future even because the show that price action and volume are not strong enough to continue in the current trend and that trend is to change based on the breaking of the trends...line or path.

I would appreciate for you to more detail explain what you are talking about because I view the SAFT method as doing what your are saying.

Don't worry Eval, there's quite a few people here, myself included, who are giving this idea a thorough test & learning how to trade it and whether or not it works. All that matters is whether this is a profitable method or not & that can only be determined by putting it into practice.

I do have one question though, hope you don't mind me asking. Considering you had this price action based method several years back, why design something totally different & as indicator-heavy as Symphonie? I'm not knocking that system (I've never traded it), am just curious is all.

True the profitablility of a System or Method is the only thing that really matters not how you get there as long as one make profit.

As to your question on Symphonie....SAFT came first but no one showed interest in the method so I abondon the thread. As to Symphonie.......Symphonie actually grew from SAFT but it is a more complex system because it looks for more guages as to the factors of a price action movment based on extreme, emotion, sentiment, and trend. It looks to provide one with entry points always on the back side of a directional change and not absolute tops or bottoms.

SAFT is pure price action and volume trading and that is all....very basic.

People began to ask me about SAFT and so I decided to revive it and move it to the System Section from the Platform TECH because I was wanting to have it automated when I design it to test it and placed it there. (which was probably a bad idea)

However, as a manual system it should prove to be successful.

hipcio, on a normal chart, H1 for example, its in a bit of a downtrend which it could break up from (or not).

I've been experimenting with Renko a bit over the last few trading days with RVI acting as a simple filter, and it looks much less decisive right now (below). This has been a totally directionless market today on most pairs, may not be any strong moves until the New York session.

If the settings are consistently profitable, then it would be possible to automate the trades by coding an EA. More forward testing is required.

Yes. It is possible to automate and I believe that Steve Hopwood is attempting to do that. Here is the link to his forum if you are interested but I prefer to keep this discussion on this thread about trading SAFT and not a EA.

I would love to test this as EA when his group have all bugs worked out of the code. Looks promising.

Ok, in order to clarify "Standard" vs. "Gadi's Method" let's assume a very simplified trading system - based on RSI only (or any other indi - again, this is just a simplified for example purposes).

The "Standard" trading method suggest that you BUY when RSI goes above 30 and SELL when it goes below 70.

"Gadi's Method" does something else...
Using the same RSI indicator - analyze how RSI is calculated - and "predict" what are the conditions that will cause RSI to go above 30 or below 70.
If the conditions are going your way - put a BUY/SELL limit order.
This is "Looking into the future" - and avoinding the MA that are built into almost any indicator.

"Gadi's Method" is simply "Reverse Engineering" of the indicator(s).

Did I mentioned DIRECTION in my previous posts?
Well, it's a modified version of the standatd ADX indi.
it is showing -DI in the posted example.

The modification involves 3 things:
1. Automatic Scaling to compensate the different scaling values.
2. Automatic selection of -DI or +DI.
3. Automatic parameter selection of the ADX parameter.

The ADX paramaeter selection is based on MINIMAL crossings in the current TF and currency pair.

Sorry, can't post the MOD_ADX, it contains proprietry info.
I'll gladly assist and guide if someone want to develope his own or share.
