Hi everyone

I have made another EA by adjusting the price_bounce_off_ma EA to a price_break_through_ma EA

It's better then the one I posted above because it opens a trade immediately when the price action hits the EMA or SMA. The reason this is better is because on the longer time frames if the EA opens a trade on the next bar it often is way too late to make significant pips.

Hi everyone

Well what an interesting day so far!!

The day before yesterday I started using the "entry" indicator again and it really paid off. Today I'm using it again with similar great results!

The lesson? Well it's fair to say that indicators will work or will not work depending on the market conditions. When price action is trending strongly, many indicators like the stoch (and our "entry" indicator) just don't work or become unreliable. However in a ranging market - which we have 80% of the time anyway - they are very useful!

So I'm posting the indicator again for you. I have also posted the "market open" lines indicator which is very useful. I've found that the best way to see if it's going to be unnecessary is check the 4 hr chart - if the candle bars are moving sideways we need the indicator whereas if the candle bars are "soldiers" (like yesterday) we remove the indicator (temporarily)

Guys, a minor change to the chart is that I tried to use the 200 SMA as "ultimate support" but really it doesn't work as well as our original 144/169 EMA (vegas 1 hr) combo. So I have reverted! (Sorry about that). Here is my chart:

OK let's try to analyse this morning's session.

After a rather messy start, we had a buy signal at 2450 and price jumped up to 2475 for a nice 20 pips. We had a sell signal at the Asian high (our horizontal blue line) and price action actually penetrated through our ultimate support before recovering but falling again and breaking through our ultimate support and going right down to the 2340 area.

It's happened many times before so this is a RULE! IF we do see a penetration of our ultimate support/resistance line with a recovery, we can expect price action to break completely through the NEXT time it test's our ultimate support/resistance line. So good to place a pending order just below that support line to catch the price action for a nice few pips!

Hi everyone

Well there was a big jump upwards after 7.00pm - would have caught most people unawares but we had a trade open when price action "bounced" off our bounce EMA

Plus our two pendings from earlier - was not a bad day!

Remember in an earlier post I said that I was installing the two 5 SMA's for other good reasons too. Well, one great little strategy is to "ride the five"

When price action suddenly starts moving quickly up or down, (like today) it tends to "hug" the blue 5 SMA if moving up fast or red 5 SMA if moving down fast - I am re-posting today's chart and marked it to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Nice little strategy - just watch for a couple of bars starting to "hug" the 5 SMA up or down.

There is another strategy we can use with these 2 SMA's and I'll outline it tomorrow!

Hi everyone

Well this morning at Frankfurt opening we had a disappointing sell trade that led nowhere.

However, what does occur so many times is that the "big guys" gun stops placed around BRN numbers. Noticed how this happened twice at 12500 and 12550. Especially was this DEFINITELY going to happened when price action twice failed to break the area during the Asian session last night! You can imagine how many stops were placed just above 12550!

So it was a surety that we would see a shoot through 12550 and you'll often see the move falter at around 15 pips above the BRN (in this case 12565)

Thanks for the Entry Indicator.
Reversal signals are so perfect, it creates an impression of repainting. Have tried to find out more, but it remains a mystery.
Will keep under close observation.

do agree, jmtini, BRN's and PPZ's (price pivot zone) are very useful... today EU stopped at R1 level 1.2571,
EU, EJ, EG, CJ all profitable today with 5min strategy but I just catched EU..

Oh yes - it definitely does repaint. I't's great as a guide in messy market conditions and in ranging conditions just like we've been experiencing today. The sell arrow (circled) never repainted - it's valid!

Could have used the "ride the five" strategy earlier on (white arrows). I wait for a candle to "hug" the high/low SMA. Nice little scalping startegy!

short EU at BRN 1.2550.....still open....though Stoch wasnt above 80 around entry time there was a Stoch divergence!

Hi eaglepip - you're right - difficult to do live! But I tried it this morning on the quick move down after 7.00am and it does work.


Of course we're settling in to a fairly strong trending situation which means that the "entry" indicator is quite useless. Better to remove it until we get sideways movement.

Hi everyone

Well someone made a contribution to the thread some time ago and mentioned using the 15 min chart for our system and I shot him/her down in flames!

To whoever it was - my humble apologies

You were of course correct in as much as that price action DOES respond to our MA indicators. The difference is that price action touches our MA's less often BUT results in greater rewards, FAR LESS BAD TRADES and the great thing is that the 15 min chart requires far less maintenance and even more important far less guesswork!

Here is my chart over the last few days (15 CLEAR WINNING OPPORTUNITIES) - see what I mean!!

It has made me realise the futility of searching for the perfect system. Have decided to stick to a simple plan, avoid changing too much but rely instead on MM.
Find that Engulfing bars, are quite reliable in identifying pullbacks to the MA.
Will only take signals in trend direction.
For reversals will use pending orders when Engulfing bar reversals occur outside an outer 0.25% envelope.

Yep need a simple system and that's what we really are coming down to here.
It's the "bounce" that we're looking for, off what or where of course depends on trend strength for bounces off MA's or trend weakness if we are looking for a bounce off solid support or resistance levels. But we have to stick to that same principle whether we're using the 1 min, 5 min, 15 min or 4 hr chart. Finding reliable bounces is of course is a learning curve but in reality the longer time frames often give better results - they come along more rarely but because the 1 hr or 4 hr trends are stronger then the 5 min/15 min trend (for instance) they are more reliable.

Have a look at this gold chart as an example:

Guys,

Someone out of the blue sent me an EA to test. It's quite complicated but looks very interesting. Apparently it works on about 10 different pairs simultaneously.
It does come with some instructions.

I tested on the MT4 strategy tester and it gave incredible results on the EURUSD M1 chart.

Maybe we can all test it and someone could also tell me how to set it up?

I learned a great trick the other day. And that is using the line chart rather then candles to get a much better perspective of how price action reacts to our MA's.
Just a click and we can change it back to candles to lock in the best area to place our trade!

Looking at the one I've attached, by getting in on one of two "bounce" opportunities on Wednesday evening - 100 pips available! There was still agood opportunity further up otherwise as our MA's changed direction, we wait for opportunities on the way down!

Of course, with the longer time frames, we have more time to analyse the situation and set up our trade bot accordingly!

Well we had a nice bounce off the 62 this morning on the 5 min

Looking for 20 pips but will close in 10 at least (hopefully!!)
