Edit: Triggered (2nd pic).
Edit: 7+ hours later manually closed for 30 pips gain (3rd pic). A long road down which seems to be losing steam. Get out now and wait for PA to form up a new setup.

Hi,

This stop hunting has been brought up many times in FF and also other forums.

There will always be ... believers and non-believers.

But, if these sort of action by brokers are true, as traders what do we do to mitigate them.

If we don't see them as stop hunting, what then will we do as traders?

what then will be our edge in our own trading systems.

you are right about egocentic behaviour here. I read so often in past posts replies and still ongoing, no quality lessons anymore these days.
Now I read only those posts by FF members - Basber, Domas4, ddaytrader, hansma, Muhammad989, ..these are experienced traders with good quality posts to share and great learning value to read and many lessons to learn from these senior members. I read them again and again.

After all, I believe in Quality not Quantity

Just an experience I would like to share with y'all regarding "stop hunting" topic. I hope you won't shoot me being off-topic

I had the chance to work within a financial company back in 08 (yea you can guess what happened to it) Anyways, we were using Bloomberg professional desktops for trade / charting / news and what not. At that time I had a private account with a well known European broker. One night <as I was working night shift monitoring aspac equity sessions>, a couple of my USD/CAD positions were suddenly stopped out on my private acc. At first I didn't give much notice, sh*t happens I thought.

Later on I checked the chart on Bloomberg. Not sure why I did it but oh boy sure was a fine idea! There was no price movement at all during asia session on bloomberg station while on my broker there was a huge spike up-down. I got so pissed that called them at once, telling them how is that possible at all when bloomberg / reuters streams do not have anything like that ? Answer was that "they had a technical issue" but it is fixed now. My positions were reopened at the same price levels that they were originally... Never received a question what would have happened if I do not report this myself, but you can take a wild guess.

I personally trade with Several different brokers as all are guilty of theft. Some to a larger degree than others. One of my brokers I use is MBTrader. They do not use the back end controls available on MT4 and act as a true ECN. The controls on the brokers end can be set as aggressive as they choose. An honest broker will set all these to off or 0 so that you are only competing against the real market. The software is written to steal as much of your account slowly or aggressively as the broker chooses. MBTrader offers a webinar that shows many of the back end controls and how the brokers can and will abuse your account. MT5 is even worse and I recommend to never use it as a trading platform unless you have full faith that the broker has turned off such controls.

Hey i'm new to this system. Was wondering the dragon is set up with SMA or EMA? As i happened to saw it at one of Sonic post and was kinda confused now. The PA refering to trend line rite? Someone please help to clarify! thanks

Well, it work when you complain and get your positions back.
I have similar experience too and also got back my money. If your broker treasure you as their client, they will do things for you and retain you as their client.
We just need to vigilant and keep our eyes open and always work with your broker to remedy any problem you have trading with them.
There is regulation in most countries, so we must know them and use the regulatory framework in your respective country.
You and your broker have a relationship through the agreement you signed with them. You have your rights and you can exercise them.
If any broker is unfair in their terms and conditions which only favour them, you have the choice... just turn and walk away. Look for another one.
Trading is your business. Brokerage is their business.

Tight stops provide easy targets. I try to avoid them. I doubt any broker is targeting *MY* stops, I'm not that paranoid, but many traders use the same criteria based on Fibs, trendlines, etc. If there are a bunch of stops clustered in the same place a broker may stick their hand in my cookie jar. If I have a great deal of faith in the trade I'll skip the hard stop, if I'm not as certain I'll take the hit if it happens and look to re-enter. Low volume is the scary time when the sharks come swimming.

Emmanuel7788, you say you believe in quality, not quantity. You compliment someone on their opinion that others should not discuss basis for PA analysis if controversial, like liquidity creation drives/SL hunts, no matter how much it is supported by the experiences of others. And then you turn right around and compliment another person for retrieving money stolen by a broker's sudden SL hunt!

As for me, both you and vtayha are sorely mistaken. Like anyone else, I have beliefs and opinions, and reasons for them. And I am open minded to change. And until reason exits to change, I will stand up for my beliefs in the face of any attack that totally lacks substance and is driven by a mean spirit. If you and vtayha want to make snide remarks about anyone here, and pat yourselves on the back while doing so, then I suggest you take your mutual admiration society elsewhere. Your posts mentioned before times that you get flak by others. Have you tried wear another hat and ask yourself why people will flak you.

Basic principle in life: Don’t flak others when you do not want to be flak by others.
I refrain from quoting from the Bible because this is a secular forum and I respect other peoples’ religion and faith. If you are Christian you can PM me in private and I will share something of the same faith.

I don’t see any need for both you and I to exchange post and replies in this thread. We are members all the same.

This thread owner is sonicdeejay. FF members/traders here are all matured and discerning people. If members like to, the can judge us in their own way.

emmanuel7788, own up to it. vtayah made snide remarks, and you happily concurred, like his cheering section. And they were uncalled for! I don't know what level of life you aspire to, but that certainly is not nice behavior.

I've mentiond getting flack. The subject regards liquidity creation drives/SL hunts. You already read how quickly Domas4 jumped on me about this. And he is wrong, as you yourself know him to be wrong by your own words.... "I have similar experience too and also got back my money."

You compliment vtayah on taking the position that folks should shut up about such shenanegans because they are not proven to exist, and you yourself have had experience with them. Yes, that makes you a hypocrite.

I don't mind getting flack. So don't misunderstand me. In fact, when I get it from someone that would try to limit free speach about an important consideration in trading, or who would deny the existance of something that appears daily for all to see, or from someone lying or encouraging slander, THEN I RATHER ENJOY GOING TO WAR!

And for the record, to all Sonicers, this entire controversy is about my freely talking about liquidty creation drives, SL hunts, pumps & dumps, whipsaws, etc.,.....the various things big money trading firms do to advantage themselves and disadvantage others. Some folks just don't want them to be discussed, like they should be hidden under the rug and their reality denied. These things directly affect PA. And they affect SLs! They are a valid topic of discussion which no one should attempt to stifle. Especially someone complaining about "no quality lessons anymore these days." These topics are about those things the market does, more than anything else, to steal your money! How could this not be important!
