A few posters (they only drop in occasionally) say the Dragon is not needed. That is, they imply that once you become a "better trader" you won't need the Dragon, like the Dragon is some kind of training wheels! In answer to Sharpie's question, because the Dragon was flat and yes, PA was already well gone from the Dragon and too close to the target. In answer to Dtown's question, while the Dragon was actually angled down during the initial construction of the PA wave, there was a prolonged period where the Dragon began angling up during which EP could have been made. The angle was not great at final EP, but definately above 3 o'clock. And PA was co-operating with higher HLs thru out the entire process.

What I suggest Sonicers take away from this example is that trading PA waves without the Dragon can result in a lot more trades, but trades which are indiscriminately both with the trend and counter to the trend,....trades which feed the broker commissions (spread), which require a lot more focus on your part, and which can eat up your profits if you end up in the wrong direction at the wrong time because you have no other "signal" as a reference.

Hi guys, I have a quick question concerning this system.
I don't have the time to spend a lot of time in front of the computer so is this trading system successful on 4h or daily timeframe?

The principle is the same, but when you move down in TF or up in TF, your TPs and SLs must be factored accordingly. That is to say, if you would set a 50 pips SL on M15, that would likely be too tight for H4 or Daily TF trading. Another factor to consider is that the higher TFs belie the market's daily response to "news". On M15, we can take advantage of setups in both directions, regardless of trend. So, when each day the market might decide to "reverse" or significantly pull back (for whatever reason), we can take advantage if a setup occurs. On the other hand, if you are trading H4 or Daily, that day could be a miserable one for you because your trade will be in the other direction. And even if you could make a new trade in the current direction, there won't be a setup on H4/Daily on such short notice.

Trading the forex market is, in a way, trading how money flows. Today some currencies are valued over others. Tomorrow may bring a change, even more valued over others or less valued over others. Here we can trade off of daily - weekly changes, without having to risk our finances on some grandeur scale prediction as to "What" and "When".

For all we know the "hayday" of the stock market has ended, because around the world folks are wising up to how it is rigged against all but the Big Money players in it. With this lack of trust in the stock market, with this lack of confidence in getting "a fair shake", people are pulling money out of it to never return. As for real estate, banks pretty much control access to it by "playing games" with their "buyer qualifications". Fewer good people than ever before have access to the market due to the greedy banks. And that leaves bonds. And where are you going to find bonds good enough to put money into these days, what with only "Big Money"s" promises behind them on an international scale, and cities defaulting/going bankrupt on a local scale? And then there is gold, perhaps the most price manipulated "equity" there is! So, you wanna try your luck at that one?!

Don't get sidetracked. By trading currencies we are trading the right market, imho. Here's why. Countries are sensitive about the value of their currency. And that is one huge factor that puts at abeyance the most gross inclinations of Big Money to manipulate prices. This is an effective inhibiting factor that does not exist in any other market, or in the trading of any other "equity"; those other "self-regulated" markets where Big Money does what it damn well it feels like doing to "steal" money from others, made possible by the trading advantages it has.

TAH, pls in the case of the chart posted on my chart i have the dragon angled downward when the 'shitty' short entry came and the PA was below the dragon. Doesn't that make mine a valid entry

Yes it does! And thank you for posting this, albus.

I went back and checked to find I had set the Dragon for sma, not ema. So, even without PA wave trading, this short might have been taken as a counter-trend SonicR short. And good money management (tight SL) should have limited the loss to 25 pips.

I have revised the illustration and attached it below, together with another view of the situation. The premise is still unchanged. PA wave trading is playing more "foot loose and fancy free" with your money than is trading the Sonic R. System.

In the orgininal post, had the proper ema dragon been shown, the statement-
"Now, look at the M15 illustration below. Can you see where the "Shitty" Wave Trading actually asked you to enter short when the Dragon was angled up? Study it, and see why the method lost 62 pips, when the Sonic R. System gained 61 pips!"

should read-
"Now, look at the M15 illustration below. Can you see while PA and the Dragon were trending up, how the "Shitty" Wave trading had you make opposing trades (starting with a short trade) with tight SLs and that ended up losing you 62 pips, while the first Sonic R. System trade gained 61 pips?"

The Casey Research report is well known. There are other similar such reports and the conclusions are always the same. There is obviously no proof of what those people said. The interviewee Garrett is not saying all these behind anonymity and his credentials and reputation in the industry is made known. There are also other HFT experts with their research studies, white papers, etc. There is a much bigger audience than what is in this FF sonicR thread.

Dtown mentioned about friction in this thread and I agree. This is also the case when HFT experts publish their findings in this industry. The topics on market liquidity and “Big Boys” theory is both nebulous and complex. I have been reading this thread for some time. There had been a lot of discussions going on between some senior members here and this will go on and on. Everyone is right in their own views and it is all a matter of their knowledge, experience and how they trade the markets. Very often I will read strong views posted to reply others but many of these posts are of the beliefs of the egocentric.
It is the same when you ask 10 people what is market structure. You will get 11 different answers.

Some member is simply too preoccupied with his own beliefs and regard himself and his own opinions or interests as being the most important or valid than others. Such person hold the view that his own information is more important for his own judgement than do thoughts about others views and others relevant information. Egocentric people often cannot understand and cope with other people's views and the fact that reality can be different from what they are ready to accept.

We live in the digital world of technology and many things that can happen and will happen. As retail spot forex traders we all trade through our brokers..market-makers, ECN, etc. What then will be our edge knowing all these? I am interested to hear from anyone here who trade sonicR and do not use a broker.

This thread is a public forum with a limited audience and focus on trading system. Such an important topic on market liquidity deserve another platform for discussion and to a wider audience in this industry. I don’t see any value to continue posting such views in this Trading System thread and this does not have anything to do with this simple EMA based system started by sonicdeeejay. If anyone has his own research data to share and discuss, please use other section in FF and not in this section, or even better is go to one of the big research companies and get his research published.

Essentially, what you are summarizing is:
1. People have studied HFT.
2. The people that have studied it the most are as "expert" as they can be.
3. The "experts" disagree.
4. This leaves it up to individuals to decide what they choose to believe, which is the natural course in any controvery.
5. Concluding, because this thread is a public forum focused on a single trading system, we should not post our beliefs regarding controversial topics directly relating to our analysis of PA waves, and sudden PA aberrations!

I could not agree less!

Furthermore, had you read the entire sequence of posts in which HTF was eventually mentioned, you would see the real subject is, and still is, how to set SLs when whipsaws and when sudden spikes against the trade (from which price quickly returns), are a market reality no matter how they are carried off.

Finally, the Sonic R. System is not just a "...simple EMA based system...", as you called it. It is an elegantly simple system of trading PA waves relative to support and resistance, and that uses the ema Dragon together with PA to locate the entry level of a trade. All three are important structures to the Sonic R. System, and to imply otherwise is to either misunderstand, or to mislead.

Entered short as shown. There are drawbacks. I am using sma, not ema, as it shows early rolling over of the Dragon. The PA wave is very, very tight. This might turn out not so good. This is asian session, also a higher risk time to enter. I'd not be surprised if LS moves price back up, even if it later goes down. I've placed the SL wide (from SR on Day chart), above what I see as possible highs for whipsawing, should that occur. My intent is, should the asian session move price down a ways, to close trade above TP1, and re-enter a better setup later.
