PT, could you explain what happen to USD/CAD ? Why did it fall, when its usd positive? Making E/U down, and U/J up? But U/C fell???

That is because oil spiked on the release

The employment number was much better than expected but the unemployment rate went up from 8.2% to 8.3%
Therefore the results are mixed and the market is confused. Give it time and we will see where the market wants to take this.

ADD: Average hourly earnings also missed expectations.

haha nice call pipsmaster, I had a very good feeling this would be a positive number. The challenger job cuts give me a decent indication. I didn't think it would be this good though.

Now I'm wondering if this might turn into a risk-on buy euro or "sell dollars faster than selling euros" sentiment....I hope not.

Bullsh#t that Euro and risk on currencies are going up! Maybe similar setup to yesterday except @ 1.23 level.

I'm not sure what to make of this yet. The USD is all over the place.
The AUD/USD and GBP/USD are in limbo. USD/CAD is tanking. EUR/USD is climbing. Gold is dropping. Oil is rising.

So much for correlation folks. The market has gone mad.

ADD: I'm gonna wait till NY opening bell before judging this.

That's what I was trying to say. Prime opportunity to manipulate the market even more so I guess. Should be dollar positive with this much higher then expected #.

patience let the dust settle and soon enough the eurusd pair will start to drop slowly at first but will pick up momentum.... I hope

Unemployment rate rise a bit deceiving

The unrounded rate is 8.254%, less than 0.04 percentag points above June’s 8.217%, according to Stone and McCarthy.

The big moves so far are in Treasuries and USD/JPY, which tend to move in step. The was pre-NFP chatter that bond market traders were eager to buy on any weakness.

That could cap USD/JPY gains. There are offers all the way up to 79.00 and talk of stops above 78.70.

USD/CAD is locked in an epic battle ahead of parity.
