So what is the significance of these zones? As mentioned above an RBD / DBR represent a directional shift in the supply/demand imbalance whereas a DBD / RBR represent a brief balance before another imbalance in the direction of the preceding trend.

But the thing they both have in common is they are all clear locations where major decisions have been made. They represent the big money flow and thus they are great importance for us smaller traders when evaluating where the big money demand and supply is situated.

How to investigate further?

Pick a few pairs, go back to the start of 2012 and mark up the major fresh SD zones on H1 or H4 and note what happens when price comes back to that zone - remember a good SD zone is one that results in a strong momentum move from that zone.

This is one of the tasks I commonly set for people I mentor - why, because it's the best way to learn - by spotting the 'pattern' first hand for yourself.

Unfortunately many people don't have the patience or will power to do this and thus revert so some inefficient mechanical based system instead.

When the H1, H4 TF's are quiet it's time to scroll down to get involved in the action. Quick trade on gold based on FB off the previous highs from a reaction of higher supply.

Shorted the 10min BEOB/False breakout on EURUSD at RN 1.2300. 80% off the table at 1.22760 (10min supply zone), the remainder goes to Lady Luck.

No chart attached, my boss is breaking my balls (Figuratively speaking of course but painfull nevertheless).

Shall update with chart later.

Edit: Remainder stoppped out on 1.2300 retest. Move originated from noted supply zone.

Closed out my EU trade - price has finished retracing the compression and has formed a potential RS at the H1 bearish QM. Not entertaining a short at present, but it's enough to close out my longs.

Took a partial loss on a Gold long, but not a bad start to the week with most of the fireworks to come from tomorrow afternoon onwards...

On day's like today when we know it's very likely to be a slow day and setups on H1 and H4 etc. are likely to be scarce we have to adapt and move down the TF's to find some volatility.

The EU M5 picture was very clear today, I love days like today from time to time, can just pick a few pairs and trade from swing to swing on VLTF fairly easily.

A true price action trader can adapt to any TF and can identify all the major moves in advance.

It's why a lot of traders don't like this time of year - because a) they aren't true price action traders that are just system traders and b) they can't adapt to the summer market conditions.

Shorted EU this morning, H1 FB of previous swing high and off a supply zone (can only see it on M5 - sometimes VLTF will reveal something a H1 won't).

Missed the rejection of the supply and got a partial retrace entry (didn't expect it to retrace so high) and took profit at the first target - no point trying to catch a runner when the market clearly won't trend ahead of the big event risks coming up over the rest of the week.

Precisely why I've put more resources on eursd. Trading from work has massive limitations, concentrating on one pair, lower TF timeframes allows for some good pips here and there while still maintaining deliverables. A super low spread helps also.

Too slow today. Closed 2/3 at 78.22 for +14 pips and moved SL to BE. Will shut down the computer and watch the Olympic soccer game.

That makes two of us. Traded like a amateur today, when it should have been a profitable one. Failed to cash in on a 10min FB on EURNZD once it hit demand, instead, I added to the position (Something I never do). Fail...

It is unbearably hot and humid in Seoul. Yesterday’s high temperature was 36C (97F). No air conditioner in my room... Just watched the Olympic games in the living room where it is air-conditioned after the foolish EU trade.

You said trading from work has massive limitations. I'm in the same circumstances. I usually have some difficulties reading charts after a long business trip. Well, another 5-week business trip to Japan and Taiwan in September.

But there are sunny days ahead. Let’s be positive. Cheer up!!
