I am not like billy, so i don't post my great wins (compound, you know, man!) but i still got a short from 1.26185 and i don't feel very good with that one. Why the hell i did not cash in under 1.21?
But you guys are convinced it will break down? I am not.
May i see a chart to convince me?

what timeframe?

1,becos u dont have a plan before entering the trade.even before entering the trade, one should know how much ur prepared to loose and then getting out is a function of it.so first thing is when u enter that trade how many pips in equity u were ready to loose?do u have a number,then let us know? then it will be easy to answer ur query.
2, tell us why ur not convinced it will breakdown?if u managed to answer that to us then u will have ur answer,by the way, may we see ur chart to convince us? please

eurusd chart is shouting that "i need a correction". I am expecting it around 1.224x . I am holding short position since 1.2301 . Really if it doesn't make correction that may lead us 1.21 again.
I know there are big players acting but they must be aware of that chart is looking so freaky without correction after 200 pips rally.

I only trade 15 mins. Works fine with me. I find the tf's on either side too fast or slow. What works, I guess, is all that matters.

I've probably been staring at charts too long today, but does this look funny to anybody else?

This is true if you are big money and have a tight stop placed, but say you weren't trading millions and had it set for 1.2172 , the market probably wouldn't have moved those extra pips just to take one order out which had a slightly wider stop (unless your stop was a 500 lot trade perhaps)

In my experience, I notice they tend to take the market 10-20 pips past major resistance to take out all tight stops (those who got in at the very high may not set a stop at BE, but instead set it for a pierce of the highs because the loss is so small it's essentially a BE, but there is always a chance the pierce doesn't happen and it continues in the traders favor away from the stop).


Just a bit of info about how I trade currencies.


I trade with a 5-7 pip stop for the most part, getting in on the first retrace of a fresh down trend. Entries usually at EMAs or fibs. 0.05%-0.07% risk. This allows me 5 attempts at catching a swing every day. Targets of 10-20+ based on bounce levels (then I will try to get in 5-10 pips higher than where I took profit). On surges hard TP at +50.

I scalp both long and short, but only contratrend at strong support/resistance where a pullback will happen. It's quite easy to rack up 100+ pips a day doing this, as once you win a few, you know even if you lose 1 you still have most of your profit. The confidence is what allows you to make so many pips (profit cushion). If you lose a few (25 pips at most), so big deal, you lose 0.25%.

I also do hold a few overnight with wide stops. I shorted Aussie last week at 103.62 with stop above 105. It's actually bit disappointing I didn't hammer it 104.40 area with a 30-40 pip stop above there, which would be above the big downtrend in May. I had an extremely strong gut feeling that was THE very top (78 4hr RSI as well as the 30m and 1hr). Closed 3/4 of 103.62 at 102.30, the other 1/4 stopped out at BE.

The Adens go on to say, in part:

If gold breaks above $1650 and stays there, the worst will be behind us.

Then $1700, $1800 and $1900 will be the next stepping stones in the renewed rise. Record high territory would confirm the making of a strong leg upward.

How High?

How high is anyone’s guess. It all depends on the explosive stage in the bull market. That phase is still to come and Chart 1 provides a good example of this.

As you can see, gold has been moving within a mega upchannel since 1970. The gold rise since 2001 still has a ways to go before reaching the top side of this mega uptrend.

Note on the top chart that gold moved into the upper side of the mega channel when it burst into record territory in September 2009. This was just six months after QE first started in March 2009.

When gold reached the $1900 record level last September, the leading indicator (below) rose to the normal high area and it’s been declining since then, now approaching the uptrend and zero line.

Market Soars on "Whatever It Takes" Mush From Draghi; Another "Saved Again" Moment




ECB President Mario Draghi commented in a speech today that the ECB was "ready to do whatever it takes" within its mandate to preserve the single currency.

I have to ask, is that even news? Apparently it it to the stock market which has gapped up over a percent. Bond yields in Spain also reacted to the non-news.

Yield on the 10-year Spanish bond fell all the way (drum roll please) to 6.95%. Is that really anything to be giddy about?

Let's take a look at additional Draghi comments as reported in the Financial Times article Draghi hints at return of ECB bond buying

The euro strengthened on Thursday after Mr Draghi said the ECB was “ready to do whatever it takes” within its mandate to preserve the single currency. “Believe me, it will be enough,” Mr Draghi told a conference in London.

“To the extent that these premia have to do not with factors inherent to my counter party, they come into our mandate, they come within our remit, Mr Draghi said. “To the extent that the size of the sovereign premia hamper the functioning of the monetary policy transmission channels, they come within our mandate.”

“The ECB appears to be keen to increase the threat of the SMP being woken from its hibernation period,” Mr Wattret wrote in a note. “Are the latest comments a signal that the ECB’s strategy is changing and the SMP is about to be used? Or is it merely a threat to act, designed to put some two-way risk back into markets?

“Our inclination is towards the latter conclusion, though today’s comments from Mr Draghi suggest the former now looks more plausible.”

The comments from the ECB president may also increase speculation about other “unconventional” measures the central bank could take. This week Ewald Nowotny, head of Austria’s central bank, said there were arguments for equipping the eurozone’s forthcoming bailout fund with a banking licence so it could tap the ECB for more funds if needed – although he also said the idea was not being actively discussed by the ECB.

All i really see is a bear flag with another down trend line coming soon. I personally would never try to long the heaviest downtrend in all of FX. I mean I have before, but it never works out.

Upside is very limited and by no means guaranteed (we did not pierce the highs from earlier this week)

Check out this 4 hour chart. It can't even retrace to the upside aqualine (or it has not once on this chart). If it does make it that far, there are trendlines as well and I think it will get hammered. 1.1930-1.2000 is the max I see it going.

Hate when technicals =/= fundamentals.

This decending wedge thing + momentum overshoot and return back in to the wedge often says there will be a big move to the upside.

But I am not a QE3 believer, so I think this wedge will fail to the downside.

However it makes me uneasy when the two don't align well. I am expecting some pre-fomc hopium in any case.

what a day. so euro zone solved all problems and now time to party? can imagine how brokers were busy making margin calls. well, this is how professionals play, they made the killing.
it may go up further, but upside is limited, at best, maybe 1.25 but downside gates are now open to 1.18. for short term i expect ping pong between 1.22 and 1.2340. good luck everyone.

Gold is one of my favorite indicators for USD

VERY close to making a higher high today finally, but just shy. But we did break above the downtrend, lets see if it holds.

I just can't imagine EUR not tanking for 4-6 months when QE is just around the corner. Wouldn't it seem more likely we get one more large down leg before smart money front runs QE?

I don't expect any big movement until US data Advance GDP q/q in the morning. London opens in 2 hours, let's see.

Price is hoovering on 200 regression top, Price should calm down from here, am short from 1.2310 however 100 regression up which says not now not so easy down of price so waiting game is on.

if price continue up will place sale order in each 80 pip interval target closing 1.20 level.
