I think short is the way to go. Targeting 77.70, stop 79.70.

Update on my short USDJPY position:
I took a short position at 79.438 from 08:10am NY time
I closed the position at 79.412 at 04:33pm NY time.
Expected a deeper fall but to no avail.
Now searching for the next trade.

I think you'll be kicking yourself pretty soon. Get back in that short. If you're really trying to be conservative, put a stop in at 79.50 although my stop at 79.70 is much safer. This should fall all the way down to 77.60 rather fast by my estimations. It's a very good r/r with either stop and a great possibility of happening, IMO.

How do you calculate the 77.6 level?
That would be real good if it does, even though im long the position.
I held USDJPY December thru to Feb,
77-82 and I loved that and would love to do it again.

By looking at previous lows and judging how strong they were and trying to figure out what exactly happened at those spots (how was liquidity provided?). Plus I took into account the strength of the tops we've had and the movement down from 80.05.

My signals allow for trading up to around 12 hours, otherwise I risk a counter-move. You both are correct; I closed early because as I write this (5:39am NY time) USDJPY is trading at 79.249

not only usd/jpy, but almost all /jpy crosses had a significant jump
BOJ intervention?? banks buying jpy crosses?

yen looks spike now but if boj fail to convince investor tomorow yen will be wild again..huhu

Good chance to short if not short already. Stop at 79.70 should be safe. I thought it might do this, but 79.70 should not be touched.

green pips for you today 1tip works for me (usually) on usd/jpy scalping, a second of eur/jpy going up or down and another second confirm the same direction on eur/usd open a same direction order on usd/jpy! but never in a day like today, when BOJ awake
