Lets see what 2715/25 will do if we get there. It's starting to get pretty overbought on H4/h1. With proper divergence I will short from there for at least a decent pullback.

I've been surfing the news, as I happen to speak both German and Finnish I've gathered that the sentiment is very negative, but there's a good chance that the decisision made with back against the wall may hold. It's either a full frontal attack or quiet resignation. In forex terms, high volatility or a new range. I don't know how to trade either.

How do you trade a volatile market ? I know there are forex options, but just in the normal market, what's the trick ?

I generally scalp only.In 1min or 5 min chart no longer TF since it can reverse rather quickly.
I made over 50pips just doing this last 8hrs.Just selling mostly in dips.
In trading, you have to be defensive and aggressive at the same time

Ok..so move to a smaller TF when uncertainty prevails. Makes sense, thank you. I'll try to figure out how to incorporate that to my trading style.

I think it is a good place here to look for a short entry.

near the top of the range on the weekly

monthly continues to show a long term downtrend remains in effect.

You can use hedge to limit the risk and also earn on both sides. You need to practice it, like a process of learning anything. About news, remember to don't associate the results with market moves, any positive or negative data can trigger up or down move. Try to observe the moves just before and after the news, you may realize that they mainly create sentiment and act against it...

Profit taking in the last 4 hours with same volume as the upmove but with only testing 1,2650 says to me that there are still more buyers in market.
My feeling is that it will get very close to the most recent 4 hr. high. The lack of a significant retracement of the last spike looks like we could be headed up.

I'm a bit wary of hedges as the largest loss I've ever made was in a vain attempt of trying to cover the fact I already screwed up. A painful memory. I'd appreciate a pointer on how to apply one and more to the point, when ?

Your point on news I fully understand. Burnt my fingers there as well, learned a few lessons.

just be careful about breakouts.I try to figure out overall direction and try to sell or buy but don't do both.
If you get caught in breakout at least you will be in the right direction.Right now its kind of uncetrain direction.Friday week ending.Wait for Monday to get a better feel.
My style is scalping.That's all I do.What I noticed is this. Certain times in a day huge bank orders come in and push the price 15-20 pips creating a momentum usually and predictable whole numbers like 9am 10am 12noon(before London close usual upsurge)1pm 2pm seldom after 2pm.I just jump on sell orders after it hits its peak.Sometimes this are refereed as spikes.
Banks play games and I try to profit from their tactics.
We just had a spike at 2660 and nice drop 2655 5pip.May not seem much but it adds up at the end of day considering this is 1min chart.

People were shouting Bull Trap earlier today and I got stung from it too but all in all the advice here is very good.

It is pretty crappy of some blogger to denigrate this awesome thread.
