By getting all the EZ countries to accept one currency, Germany increased their clout, market share and power in Europe by devaluing the Deutschemark with conversion to Euro. Germany will not allow anymore leveraging of debt, and politically Merkel cannot and will not allow the German people to shoulder the debt of the rest of the EZ nations without some type of control over future budgetary decisions in other sovereign states.
Think about it, if all your friends went out and partied and had a good time, and you had to put it on your credit card, how would you feel?
As I have said before, Germany has conquered Europe without firing a shot!
They may cut their nose off to spite their face, but nonetheless, they win!
It's only a matter of how viable the spoils of victory are.
The way I see it, if Germany does not capitulate, then a war of some type would be inevitable, whether economic or physical.

You may be right about 1.2520 being the cap, but both you and I would be kidding ourselves if we believed we could predict where it would stop on a hopium rally. There is still a slim chance that 1.2810 could be visited and in an extreme case, we may even see 1.30... I doubt it very much but the possibility is there nonetheless. Regardless, as I mentioned earlier today, I trade probabilities and not possibilities
I am not really interested in a fresh short position at 1.2520 (although I do have a very small limit order at 1.2525 and another very...

What I mean is, often the market positions itself for a sell-off, or a rally before big news, so by positioning long, it's quite possible that this is bearish post summit... Haha, hope that makes sense but we will see what comes out of the meeting.

Good morning all
Welcome to the long awaited Day 1 of the European Summit. Where BS will be thrown around like confetti on a wedding day and after it's all over, they will all sit down for a nice dish of Hu Flung Pu. So buckle your seat belts and wear your wellies coz as soon as the verbal diarrhea starts flowing, the party may get wild.
Before things even get started today, we are already hearing rhetoric from EU leaders and it seems to me that there is deep division and disagreement on all aspects of what is to be accomplished today and tomorrow. The most the market can hope for at this point is a compromise. However, I doubt we will even see that. As such I expect a big disappointment. Hopefully while the meetings are in progress, before we get an official press conference or prepared statement, that individual leaders will step up to the microphone to inject some hopium into the markets. This will cause some shorts to cover and maybe even some bulls to jump in harder and drive the Euro up into the selling zone (Yummy)
Today, the technicals are most likely on holidays and the market will be mostly news driven. How the market initially reacts to the news snippets that will be released will also most likely have no bearing on reality, but rather would be the usual knee-jerk reactions which have become commonplace in this pair, and really in the markets as a whole. That being said, support/resistance and supply/demand zones are still quite well defined, but in extreme conditions may only serve as temporary pause zones rather than bounce zones.
Anyway, these said levels come in all over the place, but I will be paying more attention to the H4 chart (as usual) moving averages (55, 100 & 200) and fibo levels as well as the H1 chart daily pivots.
I currently have two very small sell limits at 1.2525 and 1.2535 followed by a larger one at 1.2565. Further up I plan on entering sell orders manually subject to PA. If we get a massive short squeeze due to extreme hopium, then we'll probably see levels in the mid to high 1.26xx region. but I fully expect any such rallies to be quickly faded.
