i took the short from 12681 e/u, i just followed off the 14 day directional cross over and got rid of it after making 30 pips, this had been compounded up. and thats me done now until g/u trigger is set, hopefully in an hour or two

In a way yes, but not from a perspective of being Euro bearish. More from a perspective of being USD bullish. However, USD bullish or not, I am still CAD bearish just due to the underlying fundamentals in Canada.

U/C holding strong even with dollar weakness.

Quite happy about this trade so far. It was 2:1 leverage and I took half off at 1.0211 making it 1:1.

The rest I will piggy back as PT does (will close when he closes)

Looks like potentially another bullish day.

Just based off inverted h/s and lack of volume at resistance areas.

Add: here comes some now but potentially just to form inverted h/s

So here we are, no QE3. Ohhh Big surprise

Well it seems that there is still quite a large QE3 fan club out there although it has lost a few of its members. So where did these members go? Well they started their own fan club. I think it's called the "Eurobond" fan club. I guess dreamers will always be dreamers.

Lately there has been much talk about mutualization of EZ debt, or better know as debt sharing vis a vis Eurobonds. While I believe that it will eventually happen, the current laws do not allow for it and that is not about to change any time soon. At least not if Angela Merkel has anything to say about it.

In the last few days there has been much speculation that Merkel is softening her stance against Eurobonds. This speculation is based on a comment she made that it is reasonable to consider having the ESM/EFSF buy sovereign bonds of troubled nations. Of course it is reasonable to consider it. However, she will never allow it to actually happen until the fiscal pact is fully ratified and then those who benefit from it will have to be subjected to the same or tougher rules and restrictions that are currently imposed by the Troika. So really it is no different than what is already happening with the bailouts to Ireland Portugal and Greece. So much for progress. It's like turning the underwear inside out so the skidmark is on the outside.

Anyway, Eurobonds or not, the debt crisis will not be solved until certain steps are taken to achieve federalization of all states or at the very minimum, a full fiscal and transfer union. It is only then that the EC will have the power to dictate and supervise budgets of individual states. Within that fiscal union or federalization of states, will obviously be a federal finance ministry and a federal banking supervisory authority. Once all those pieces are in place, then the EZ will finally be able to start addressing the debt crisis through a common fiscal discipline. It doesn't mean the crisis will be automatically solved, but it is a necessary foundation.

So, until that happens, or until we see a political will by all member states to head in that direction, we're just going to go round in circles until we all get dizzy and fed up, at which point I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Euro project starts to crumble before our eyes and ever country returns to their native currency.

In the mean time, I'm still a patient Euro-Bear.

What harm does it cause you ? You can just skip past it in a microsecond. There is more banter here than information on a link. It is not copy and paste by itself since I only link relevant information. If you only trade using technicals than you need not read it. Trading forex successfuly requires technical analysis, fundamental analysis, understanding of money flow amoung asset classes, risk management and most important control of your emotions such as fear, greed and ego.

I hope this allows you to understand better my COPY & PASTE.

This one simple chart below shows what is possibly the biggest and most fundamental flaw in Bernanke's approach to spurring the economy, which to him, of course, means rising prices of risky assets, aka the stock market.

The chart above shows the return of two simple things: the return of 4.25% 30 Year Bond issued November 2010... and the S&P.
As is vividly shown on the chart, the return of the long-bond is nearly three times greater than that of the broader equity market in 18 short months!
And therein, ladies and gentlemen, lies the rub.
Recall that Bernanke said something substantively as follows:





"When our policy response lowers interest rates on govt bonds, it induces market participants to take more risk. Someone selling their govt bond to us may go out and buy a corp bond, thereby lowering spreads. A bank selling their govt bond to us may go out and make a loan..."

There is one problem with this logic: it is dead wrong. Because instead of forcing investors to rush out of the bond market, which potentially has much more upside embedded (the 30 Year is yielding 2.7% right now: this means the actual price of the 30 Year can continue going up and up and up), investors, even those "sophisticated" ones at banks, hedge funds, and prop desks who can trade CDS, IR Swaps, variance swaps, swaptions, and things the retail investor has never heard of, are doing something else, and something much simpler, entirely.
They are simply front-running the Fed!
The Fed's entire policy of boosting the economy is a failure for many reasons, but the primary purpose embedded therein - to lift stock markets, will forever be subordinated (to use the parlance of our times) to just frontrunning the Fed, which simply means buy whatever the Fed is buy, and sell whatever (if anything) it is selling.
In simpler format:

  1. Frontrun what the Fed has publicly telegraphed to be doing
  2. ...
  3. Profit

And as long as the Fed continues on the course of LSAP, either unsterilized or sterilized ala Twist, this will continue, and the Fed will continue failing upward.
Sadly, this also means that at the end the Fed has only one option: to go Japanese and start buying not only REITs and ETFs, but ultimately individual stocks.
At that point the best purchase, however will not be the stock market, but wheelbarrows.

Update to yesterday's chart. Even with all the moves we've seen yesterday, down trend is still intact. My trading strategy will be to play the moves between top and bottom until we get a breakout to either side.
