long on USD/CAD
so, short covering on E/U = more USD weakness = not good for moi/me

PT, Is there any reason to think that stops would not be respected when the market opens.... am considering a very small long. In other words, if the market doesn't gap up, will my trade be closed at the stop loss level I've chosen.

I don't think that 15 pips per trade is bad considering that you're scalping.
Scalping is 5 to 30 pips so you're in the zone. Well done

Best of luck on that buddy. It's not looking good. The best you could hope for is an election disaster, but that's a hope and a prayer. Not really a good strategy.

Your trade should be closed as follows

1. If the market price at your broker's open time is below your stop loss, your trade will close at market price.
2. If the market price is above your stop loss, then your trade will still be open

At least that is how it works with my broker (FXCM UK).. Some brokers (mostly bucket shops), may respect your stop loss or take profit if it is in their interest to do so.

if there was a gap to the upside, how large could it be.. i mean, do you actually think anything above 128.5 is realistic? and to the downside? more than 123? i for myself think that a gap upwards would be smaller than downwards in any case.. agree?

i guess that is how eur/usd goes before the weekend closes. Weak US consumer confident was good boost for it.
Well, 1st 1/2, made +40pips on it, 1/2nd half closed for +1 pips.
Flat going into the weekend as expected.

Thanks considering the fact that I had no plans to trade today. I heard too many horror stories about volatility.

Yes. If I had a second account to experiment with, with a small amount of money in it that I would be ok with losing, I'd take out a small long for 1.28.

I am not taking a long; sell limit orders above.

ok,PT all set,same prices as urs but my size will be in crescendo fashion from smaller to bigger and if all my positions are trigger then the leverage going to be 1:3 and my biggest position going to be at the topmost price.
i have a long position at 1.2653, going to keep over the weekend and it will be squared when price reaches my first order at 1.2705 and my smallest short position will be triggered..i havent put any stop loss orders and will manage positions manually.
