Because Europe has worse conditions than US. News trades are very jerky, as in knee-jerk reactions driven by fear and greed. That's why a good understanding of market psychology and loads of patience are key to success in this business. why did i go long? sentiment analysis. there is soo much negative mojo about the eur/usd that is time for a rally. even if it is a shortlived one. so, i look for the right technical levels to put that hypothesis to the test.

In so doing--going LONG--i was pretty much going against popular crowd beliefs....but you need the courage of your convictions....you need to be able to stand alone and trade your plan.

my SL with eur/usd varies with the setups....it can be as small as 25 pips to as large as 50pips...the 1st long position at 1.2489 used 50pips SL (the S/R level wasnt the strongest.)...the second entry at 1.2449(used 25 pips SL)....there is a special kind of london open breakout that i trade...where i tends to use roughly -10pips SL....where i use as my TP = 100 pips = average daily range of the eur/usd.

am i short? Not yet....looking for a good area....prime spot will be 1.2644(dont know if eur/usd will even rise that far up)....otherwise, i will be looking for shorts on the downside....

I honestly dont know. Like i said in one of my earlier post about my long entry, after 1.2540ish...it is anybody's guess what will happen. Price getting to 1.2540ish--that, i was confident about...anything after that? i have no idea.

the big boys get into their long positions at much lower prices and the best moment to take profit is on a breakout after news, pushing prices higher to sell to the public.

never buy/sell the breakout itself, buy/sell the retracement.

ADDENDUM: OF COURSE, can price choose to disrespect that line subsequently? absolutely. market is imprecise. price might hug that line? yes...market is imprecise. However, it market behaves the way i outline...when it gets to 1.2624...i will short it.

I'm looking at the daily for gold. This is my chart from last week where 1625.05 (on the daily close) held.
