You can get on a downwards spiral where everybody is pulling back at the same time that weakens demand and further crimps the desire of companies to hire more people, and that is the pattern that Europe is in danger of getting into. Some countries have an unemployement rate of 10 or 15%. If that rate goes up to 20 or 25% that makes it harder to pay off your debts. The markets will respond to that by making it more expensive for those countries to borro
.One concern is Europe which faces a threat of renewed recession as countries deal with financial...
So let's recap...
So far he has blamed the weak economy on:
1. Congress (for not passing his jobs bill)
2. Iran (For driving up oil prices)
3. Europe (for not getting their act together)
Who's next? Oh yes... Us speculators
Nothing Obama says is going to make any difference with what happens in Spain or any other European country. Well perhaps if he came up with a "US saves Europe" bailout package, they might listen. But then congress won't pass the bill anyway.

E/U has nowhere to go
By being patient and not shorting 55, I saved myself about 50 pips with a better entry
Edit: PT, definitely taking what you have to say into consideration, but I'm still holding this one over the weekend as it seems to be low risk to me. If not, it will come back to 1.25area in no time at all

it took them almost 1 1/2 sessions for bottoming process. what makes you think we go back down when the market opens next week? because couple of pins at the top? those pins were at the session end. hope it works out for you, but sorry to say.... you got 50/50 shots. tbh,... personally, i think you opened your trade at the worst time possible in the entire week. sorry if i was being too harsh.

I would call it 50/50. It can go either way knowing the huge data to be released this weekend.
Given the uncertainty in Spain aswell as I could never see shorting E/U right now being a low risk.

What prove do you have that the US will pay for Spain?
Spain only asked(after germnay tolded them) for money to help the banks and not the goverment it self
I think it is the other way around, money from Europe goes to the US via spanish banks

i was thinking over it for some time the insight was banks and bankers are the worst traders in history.these people just dont have the stomach to take any loses.just look at these spanish banker they are stuck with highly illiquid assets and they are unable to unstuck from there positions.now these people are averaging down thier position to down load on unsuspeted public later
just look at the leverage these banks use in 2007-8 crisis
UBS-46.9 ING 48.8 HSBC 20.1 BARCLAYS 61.3 DEUTSCHE 52.5
FORTIS 33.3 LLOYD 34.1 RBS 18.8 CREDIT AGRICOLE 40.5 BNP PARIBAS 36.1 CREDIT SUISSE 33.4
those above leverages are insane and any trader worth his salt will be horrified becos its so easy for any account to blowup.now look at these bank and almost all of them are in trouble.just thinking a bit give one the sense that only people who profited from these are the one who provided the leverage to these chap and they are the brokers who are sitting at FED and ECB.just look at them they are still playing the same game of providing the leverage and one can easily predict the next blow up and when it come it will be terrible to 99% of people.and there are some who are prediciting it will be in united states bond market,which is bubble.let see
