i started with $200 about 3 months ago, lost half now.
i really regreted my fault of ignore the demo trading.

Demo trading is nothing like live trading, it's better to get used to losing money for real, you've only lost a days worth of work in a minimum wage job, so it's not so bad.

I started with 1.5k, made a killing at first, then lost all my profits overtrading.

Withdrew 1k and started again from 500 dollars while I figured out that I actually knew nothing and how to fix that.

Started with $4000, traded mini lots of 10k at a time. IMO, this is the way to start. If you start with a micro account, I don't feel like you gain any real trading experience since the value per pip is so low.

Started with a dead stop on my career at 10k never got close to it. Decided i would never size up untill i was in the green and that was a very simple rule to avoid blowing up.

I think its fair to say by having such a small initial account it will be hard to distance yourself psychologically from daily profits and losses. Once you have a decent nest egg taking a big rip might be immediately frustrating but quite easy to stomach once you remember your just losing profits.

i started with 1000$ and after 6 months i've lost 'just' 200$. i think it's very hard to start with 500$ or less since beginners wanto to make money as soon as possiible. i learnt more lessons in a week of live trading than 10 months of demo trading.

I started $1000 collective account and gain $600 within 7 days and withdrawn the profit.....after 7 days later the account was blown up by use "The Martingale fake Genious EA".

Started collective account again with $1000 and gain $1000 within 7 days and withdrawn the profit by use "Semi-automatic driven EA". Go some extras deposit $800 and lost $900 by use "A #1 Scalpers EA on the cross rate pairs" and give up trading for a while.

It has been 5 years, every day the always sing a song "the dream start has begun!", lots of play with the Demos, finishing my boring study, And now I will comeback with "just" $3000 to be Millionaire for the next 20 years.....

it does not matters how much u start with, it matters with what u end up.

but any ways ideal amount to start with to get the living with forex could be 100k-200k

I started with €250 in january, got down to €150 and have now picked it up to around €300. Taking it slow and enjoying the ride, when I show sign of consistently earning money I might consider to add to that account.

I'm starting over this time with £400 and using a flexible MM strategy. I've explained this in some more detail here.

As for "making a living in forex" I used to blow up all the time for having this as a goal. I didn't want to be rich, but I was desperately unhappy in a job that paid me peanuts and treated me like shit. I wrongly believed that FX was going to be my saviour; of course it wasn't and I failed. What makes the difference now is that I have a well paid job in a pleasant environment, and it's taken all the pressure out of my trading and there's no temptation to make those classic mistakes any more. These days, I see FX as a nice supplement to my income but I wouldn't want to do it full time - well, not unless I was was a millionaire already!

Just opened my first account with Oanda with $130. I will start Monday.

I did a month of demo trading.

I think its different for each person, but for me personally I recommend starting off slowly, with a few hundred, perhaps $300-$500. This is more to get comfortable with trading live and the experience of it then about turning it into thousands.

Oanda allows you to trade smalls amount which works for me so I'm not over-leveraging.

Is forex more of a hobby for you, a challenge which you want to conquer? And is the advice you giving to others on the forum based on your failures?

Yes, there are category of people for whom forex is a big challenge and they try to conquer it. They do so for different reasons

May I ask how you worked it out to 2.3bil. Not trying to be rude just curious

I started trading with $500 and managed to turn it into $2000 before losing it all. I've blown a few accounts so I'm far more cautious these days.
