PT: don't know why it's taking me a while to get it but...need a little more help. I'm looking at indicator now. Here's an example I think I do understand: a cascade of red bars on the chart gets taller and taller green bars on the indicator - I bet this means more and more volume which shows more people climb on a trend later and later.

Q. How does the color of the bar on the indicator relate to the volume which I can see relative to previous bar by the size of the bar alone. That might be a way to put the question, and thank you.

Correct. It is based solely on the size of the bar relative to the previous one.

When a new bar starts, it is red until (if) it grows bigger than the previous bar. Then it turns green (unless it stays smaller than the previous bar).

To see what I mean, hover your mouse pointer on the bars to get the "volume" reading and you will see that a red bar has a lower number than the preceding bar. Likewise a green bar has a higher number than the preceding bar.

hi everyone, i am on a bank holiday here in uk so today is a no trade day. i do have a couple of triggers ready just incase something big happens.Luis if you read this ,,,, do you trade using the A B C as your chart shows i am only asking as if you remove all the lines you can see lots of trading entries. like i say to the students keep it simple. But if it works for you go for ir. The only thing i have trouble with and to be honest is i am bad at getting out of a trade lol. i do not normally let them run i just take 20- 40 pips and compound a lot but i do catch the occassional spike. Morning PT and everyone. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Couldn't believe how many post were made over the weekend.

I will probably sit out next two days til London opens back up Wednesday. PA looks horribly slow. May not be too much different when NY opens. If I hear some news that I feel can be beneficial to the board, I'll post it. Other then that, happy trading. Don't get greedy trading in a thin market. C u Wednesday.

u r right retrospectively but they need to know what time frame they are looking at.say to a 10 sec and 1 min time framer at the point of retest the momentum will be so great to the upside that he will be long or the on the side and for the yearly time framer like buffett or soros/jim rogers he will not even consider it and will laughing why people are so excited about this little wiggle.my point is different time framer have different psychological profile which will be in conflict with each other and very hard for them to initiate position for that reason.

What's the effect of another LTRO on the Euro? As I understand it LTRO is not as dramatic as QE...however, if the ECB decides to go another round of LTRO (while the "mess" is sorted out) what's your guys' call on short-term effect on the currency?

Before I answer:

LTRO is a liquidity providing exercise for "solvent" banks.

If a bank is holding "toxic" assets, they cannot be used as collateral to gain access to LTRO funds.

The above has to be taken into consideration in order to understand my answer.

My Answer:

Another round of LTRO funding will make more liquidity available to banks which they will be able to use to:

1. Purchase sovereign debt
2. Loan out to consumers and businesses
3. Invest in other securities
4. Place on deposit with the ECB for use when needed.
5. Any combination of (or all) the above

If the majority of the Spanish and Greek banks have eligible collateral to take advantage of such a scheme, then that would probably cause some short covering on the Euro short positions. If not, then no effect.

Good response as usual PT....good to know it may have a muted effect...considering some institutions may not qualify and, btw, isn't it sovereign debt that started this infection in the first place (lol) ...funny they can qualify for LTRO and then use those funds to purchase more sovereign debt

The LTRO funds they borrow are backed by collateral that the ECB values as "non-toxic" according to its guidelines. What the bank does with the funds afterwards is entirely up to them according to their own risk management system.
