There are always "gaps". On all pairs. I think it was mentioned it is just all the orders that are stacked up to go on opening of the markets so they all happen on that first second.. But all pairs can gap. It just depends on how much. Some can do massive jumps. 100s of pips on some of the crazier currency pairs or weekends where there have been massive news releases.

too early to predict retail broker's gap , thinks can change 2 hours before brokers open.

It will hit 1.19 I'm 100 % on that . Itmight not be this week but the euro has a hard five or ten years ahead of it, if it can even stay together. I am assuming parity with the usd. I base this on the fact that eur was the major power, USA is now and china will be soon. So Ill be looking for buys on Asia soon and sell the eur against usd. Saying that I'm a scalper and don't really do the long term trades on major pairs. Also the level of debt and unrest in euro it's just looking terrible for it. Unless it wipes it's debt and starts again. But that won't solve any problems. You have to remember its not just Greece with the problem it's Spain as well. And they have thrown lots of money at it already and it hasn't shown any improvement at all. Everyone knows euro is gong down its only a question of how long till it stops. On my charts it looks like it smashed a very important level on longer term charts this week. And I was hearing a lot of traders yell buy because it's so low. I think people need to look at fundamentals Nd factor that into their trading

Asians found euro cheap in 1,25 and thinks time to buy! this week maybe see 1,277

gap should retrace at least 50% ish right?

I believe in this case, the entire 'gap' will disappear, and trend will resume once it becomes apparent that this isn't going to go up

I think that will be the eventual outcome, however, I think the lack of liquidity in the market today (due to the holiday) is providing too tempting a "bait" for larger traders looking to push into weak stops of the folks who got short a little too late in the week.

And considering the likley sell stops that would have been sitting right under the 1.2500 level that broke on friday, as well as the sell orders that would have been used to push into 1.2500 in the first place, it's entirely possible that some of the more informed market participants would have taken advantage of that to cover very near a significant low...

And for all I know, by the time I post this, the gap will have filled and EU will be breaking new lows for the year...but low liquidity situations tend to create the "perfect storm" for a cheap shot at some valuable (yet poorly placed) stops.

Ex PM opened his mouth again with even more gloom and doom behind it yet we'll have a gap up....lol crazy market.

This is quite dangerous, many retailer with trend following strategy have stop just a bit above 1.2625. My broker open in 3 hours from now, if she push a bit higher, market makers will be pocketing significant profit.

Ya... funny you should say... I'm long right now, and that is my ideal take profit point. I'm really hoping we do get there in another 1.5 hrs... would be a nice start to the week.

I expect this to stall out somewhere between 2595-2625... depending on when and how it does this (if it does this)... i'm thinking easy short back to approx 1.2555ish, but 1.2570 should be a slam dunk.

Now I guess we'll just see if it can get that high first before retracing to 1.2555ish
