italy suffer a earthqauake,may be this news positive for euro.
Okay here's my take.
This Italian earthquake will have no significant effect on the Italian economy.
However, it may have a slight negative effect on the Italian deficit if the government steps in with aid that is not covered by insurance.
In a nutshell, no effect on the Euro other than just one more reason (however insignificant) to short it after the correction.
ADD: By the way... Since the G8 yielded nothing positive, I suspect the correction will be short lived. Let's see how Asia reacts.

Okay here's my take.
This Italian earthquake will have no significant effect on the Italian economy.
However, it may have a slight negative effect on the Italian deficit if the government steps in with aid that is not covered by insurance.

The short covering on Friday (besides being technically necessary) was mostly due to the possibility of the G8 meetings producing some hopium. All they did was produce more doubt.
Now we have to see how the market reacts.

Instead if that earthquake would hit Brussels I'd say it would have positive effect on Euro...
