if you're "trading the news" and trying to profit off the markets reaction to releases then yes, the official numbers is all that matters

from a fundamentals standpoint, you can try to form your own opinion on the matter and with fundamentals the truth eventually catches up

Senator inquires about pre-NFP trades

A US Senator is asking Department of Labor to investigate trades ahead of the May 4 non-farm payrolls report. We were among many who were questioning the moves in USD/JPY moments before the release. “The sudden and negative movement in the currency and futures markets suggests the possibility that some traders may have gained unauthorized access to April’s disappointing report prior to its official release,” Sen. Susan Collins (R., Maine) wrote in a letter to the Labor Department. The letter asks that the DOL to review its procedures, which is funny because a month ago the Department advised that it was overhauling the release on April 18, effective for the June 8 NFP.

Can we say "It's about dam time". These big players should be able to trade once it's officially release like the rest of us. It's worst in UK though. Big PA WAY before any fundies are release. By the time it's release, the move is OVER!

EUR/USD range likely to persist – V.Bednarik

FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - EUR/USD remains in consolidation mode this Thursday, operating between 1.2665 and 1.2748, last quoted around 1.2725, virtually unchanged from its starting price.

On the fundamental front, Moody's ratings agency has downgraded 4 regions in Spain, citing their “poor fiscal performance in 2011 and the low probability that the regional governments will be able to meet the 2012 deficit target set by the central government.” While the situation in Europe worsens on a daily basis, the EUR/USD slide has come to an inflection point, as traders doubt to push it lower after latest daily sell-off, says Valeria Bednarik, Chief Analyst at FXstreet.com.

“The range will likely persist and although the overall bias is still bearish, an acceleration above 1.2770 should point for at least a bullish correction towards the 1.2820 area immediate resistance,” comments Ms. Bednarik.

Okay so I see we have gone nowhere once again. E/U is the name and ranging is the game. So let it range for a while.

Tomorrow is Friday and I expect to see a short covering rally. If it doesn't happen I'm going to be a bit pissed but will get over it on the weekend after my first scotch on the rocks

A bit off topic.

So just in case you are all wondering where I was this afternoon, I'll tell you.

I had a meeting with the Bloomberg rep. Nice chap. Very helpful.
The software is amazing and today I learned many new things I can do with it. My demo account has been extended until the end of June to give me time to try all the new features I discovered today.

Now here is the shocker... The cost is US$1975 per month. Frankly I'm not surprised. I think it's worth it. However, whether or not it is worth it for me is yet to be seen. If this software will help me take on more low risk trades per month, I may very well subscribe. It is something I will have to consider very carefully because I would have to commit to a two year contract and there is no way out of it unless I first give 60 days notice and then I will be liable to pay 50% of the fee for the remaining months.

If anyone reading this currently subscribes to Bloomberg software, I would appreciate your thoughts posted here or sent to me via PM.

It is called Bloomberg Professional. It is the same software that banks and other institutional traders and investors use.

Regardless if you can afford it or not, that is a lot of $$! On top of that, they will have you by the gonads. I don't like one sided contracts, regardless if it's beneficial or not. IMO, you've done great for yourself without it. Just my .02 cents. Really, my opinion is worth .02 cents.

Been reading up on this. Suppose to give you info like institutional traders receive. Not sure if you've heard of it.
