get your system thoroughly check up. it is not likely that your cabling is loose. but that would be the last thing I would check.

1-Change the DVD that you are trying to play, it may be not readable by your DVD drive. Put another DVD and check it again.

2-If you have CD/DVD lens cleaner kit try to clean your DVD drive lens and try again

3-If above suggestions doesn't work than do followings. DO NOT try to following change cable or plug in suggestions while your PC running or although not running but main power cable of your PC plugged in

4-Unplug your DVD power cable and IDE/SATA cables and test your PC. If its OK go check followings

5-If your PC is old fashioned IDE based PC than put your HDD on IDE 1 as master and put DVD Driver on IDE 2 as master. Jumper setting can be found on the HDD and DVD drive. DVD drives does not like slave jumper settings

6-If you have spare IDE cables try to use it while checking step 5


7-If your PC new generation SATA based than change DVD drive sata port on the motherbord

8-If step 7 doesn't works than if you have spare SATA cable use it to check cable errors

9-If step 3 was ok and all others fail than highly probably you have to change your DVD drive

10-Whıle you waiting for new DVD drive don't plug your DVD drive power cable and IDE/SATA cables otherwise you may have problem during trading sessions

thats all i can offer to check situations.
