So here are the screenshots from both of the servers. The histograms are different, there is a 4 point difference in the weekly pivot value (that's not a problem I think). I don't know if it's a time zone difference, but the other thing I checked, that is the IBFX uses MT4 build 409 and the others I checked (Pepperstone, Alpari) use MT4 build 419.

The 1MA line (light gray line) on the screen is different in both pics so how that is being figured is the key. Obviously the open prices for the week are different that is why the histograms are different. Can you post your weekly chart I want to see them and study it.

You are right in the middle of a possible change of direction. The weekly has crossed its main pivot on the 4H chart but has not crossed the monthly pivot on the daily chart. When price changes direction you are going to get reads like this, mixed.

You are right you dont play Friday after the first 4 hours after the USA open session unless you want to go to a lower chart and scalp. I did this with those runups on the gbp/nzd and eur/nzd and caught a nice reversal on the 5M chart but I dont teach that here. Just let you know how to play the last 4-6 hours on Friday if you want to do that.

Daily shows UT moves still possible, 4H has one green bar so some UT bias. You can play two pending positions one above the 4H pivot meaning you think the UT will continue OR/AND put a pending sell below R1 on the 4H thinking it is now reversing itself. I would do neither on Friday late because you dont know what the gaps will do at market open and pendings get blown out. Same thing with MA lines.

I wait until after the JPY session open to begin setting trades. We are working on a set of indicators that will post next weeks pivots because the data is there but the indicator now wont post them until after market open. The new one will post the pivots at Friday close so you can study them over the weekend. Last week high/low are already set so they dont change with the market open Sunday night.

I will look at using the 1MA.2MA close for the histogram so everyone's histograms will agree. Not much movement the last couple of hours so everyone's should be about the same. Understand the problem, solutions, well that is another issue.

I will post my results of my publicly posted trades later when I have time. Have a busy Saturday morning and early afternoon here in China will be my study time. I want to work on a system of posting my trades that fit the system and the ones I see during the week like I did with the 5.0 system but have not worked that out. The problem is I dont have the time like I did then to spend 30M to an hour putting that together. I need a faster method and having a preset screen to just put numbers in is the answer. Another thing to do. I also need to do a paper on MM with SL and recovery trade scenarios. I do not use recovery methods trend trading but will on CT and some range trades. The big key on SL placement is previous S/R lines especially the main pivot line. Unless price has clearly crossed that line I am reluctant to use a SL on a trade. However, I trade with smaller lots than most people, I am a conservative trader who is aggressive, if you get my drift.

Keeping up with the EURO. Every once in a while I see someone posting EURO buy and up, up, up. Dont understand that thinking at all. You have to have solid solutions to the EURO problem before that happens. I am not a EURO doomsday guy either, they will work things out over the long haul I think. BUT as long as govt., personal, corp. keep spending more than they are taking in the problem is going to continue. For example the USA is having its issues also but overall debt (public, private, govt.) has gone down in the USA by 11% since 2008 despite the Feds huge borrowing. In other words, the USA is working down its overall debt. If they get their Fed. govt. spending under control their economic outlook looks good and recoverable in the long run. Short term still has its serious issues though.

Euro is still accumulating overall debt so the fundamental problem exists. So I cannot see me being a euro bull anytime soon. Not a bear either because of the big boys needing to keep it stable. (see my earlier post analysis) The Greek thing still has not gone away even though it is absent from the news lately. Here are 3 scenarios where it may or may not explode back on the front page again.

What are the possible outcomes on Greek elections?

 

  1. The same coalition, with a different leader: New Democracy could lead a coalition government with PASOK and they will continue to push through the same policy. These mainstream parties are bitter rivals, and they could settle for another technocrat Prime Minister. This scenario is supported by the Greek election law, which has a minimum threshold of 3% to enter parliament. If many votes are lost on small parties that will be left out, the bigger parties will receive more seats than their actual votes. This outcome, especially if a technocrat PM is appointed, is what Brussels and Berlin are hoping for, and will be favorable for the euro.
  2. Center-right government: In this scenario, Samaras leads a government that includes the Independent Greeks, an anti-austerity right wing party led by a former ND member, and perhaps other parties. Such a government will create a lot of uncertainty: will it continue the current policy with minor changes? Or will it eventually blow up the whole deal? The negotiations towards such a government and its formation may hurt the euro.
  3. Anti-austerity government: According to some polls, the left-wing and right-wing parties opposing the bailouts might have a majority in parliament. However, being against austerity is probably insufficient for forming a government and bridging the gaps. Such a scenario would be possible if the more moderate anti-austerity parties such as the Democratic Left, SYRIZA and the Independent Greeks (right wing) take many seats and the more extreme parties take less or remain out of parliament. The probability is very low, yet negotiations on this option would be enough to create a big scare: such a government would take Greece out of the euro (which could be a good thing for the euro in the long run), with significant damage to European banks and making a euro-exit possible for other countries as well.

There's a site called myfxbook where you can track your trades, and publish them if you want (there are a lot of privacy settings if you want to hide certain details). They have an EA that you can put on one of your charts, and it will update your myfxbook profile every 5 mins or so.

I take trades out side the system at times so I dont see this as a solution but I may consider it. Maybe I will go two accounts, one for this system and another for the others. But that still does not publish ahead of time how I plan on trading certain currencies.

I see the differences between the closes are much smaller than the opens. Some discrepancies are normal since different brokers use different banks for their feeds.

The conservative part is the small lot size, so I can be aggressive in going after pips.

Hello Everyone,

I tried back testing this system and I notice that quite a few times, a S/R/Pivot line breakout doesn't make it very far. What I mean by this is that price got rejected and reversed after crossing by a few pips.

The point of me mentioning this is to ask if there is a recommended % distance from one line to the next that would be relatively save to buy/sell at. I realize this would be different for each pair group (1-5) since they behave differently.

For example:
Say the gap between the Weekly Pivot and S1 is 100 pips. After crossing the Weekly Pivot let the price travel "X%" before buying and sell at "Y%"

I found using excel was the quickest solution. By using the statement option in mt4 and copying and pasting the results onto excel sheet you can edit the trades which are not according to the system and it also shows the pending trades as well. Quick and very user friendly.

Ok we have found two issues regarding different brokers and indis.

1. Is price feeds can be different from bank to bank and from broker to broker. This includes opening and close times. We can try to find a time that will match but no matter what we do there are going to be differences.
A. difference one is the opening prices are different which leads to problem B
B. the second part of the formula is based on the median of the candle so if the candles start at different times their medians are going to be different also. Have to think these two issue through.

2. The MT4 or updates change things also. Here is the info from FMuir:

MT4 Build 409 is the minimum build number for using Al's Extreme TMA System Dashboard. Crodzilla posted the need to have Build 409 as a minimum.

Builds greater than 416 were suppose to have had programming logic changes made by Metaquotes, without notifying developers. I suspect that 419 falls in the later category. If I recall correctly, Steve Hopwood had sent out a post about his subject. These logic changes supposedly were causing EAs and Indis to stop functioning all together, or to start misbehaving.

I had checked with IBFX a few weeks ago about whether Build 419 was available from them. They stated that the build that they were distributing was Build 409. That was because it was considered to be a stable build by them. That infers that later builds haven't been approved yet.

So working our way around these issues we will ........... do the following .............. ummmmmmm errrrrrrrr ................... hmmmmmmmmmmmm ............... interesting dilemma.

The issue is with the update. Go back to a version that does not include that update:

maybe you can use editgrid.com or another online spreadsheet-site.
I believe you can make such spreadsheet public accessible (view only), but I'm not 100% sure. Also not sure if your looking for something like that.

bob, congrats on an incredible win/loss ratio this week.
(ibfx now has a 419 build available, but you need to request it)

do i understand, this (10.2) is not a set & forget system, but one that defines and accomodates both breakout and ranging markets, but the user must decide whether to buy or sell, and then load and activate the buy or sell ea, then either use mptm or choose his own exit? so the ea's help pick good logical points to enter/exit, but it is still the traders responsibility to correctly decide market direction? i will read thru again (from post 1), but am i overlooking something?

Hi Bob, I must say your system is really excellent. I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity to help other traders.

I was just introduced here by Steve Hopwood's recommendation in his site. I am still reading your e-booklets (the third time) and trying to understand more. Although I seldom do manual trades due to work constraints, I believe your TMA slope indicator is a real savior for the grid and martingale EAs which I am running. I have done some eyeball back test, if I had exited my "bad" trades early when TMA slope went above 0.8 or -0.8 in the daily chart, I would have gained a lot more pips and yet have less stress. It is a wonderful indicator !!

After I have a full understanding of your system, may be I should try to do manual trade based on the daily chart.
