Maybe, for all newbies it had to be said,

trading THV with or without MTF is not waiting for the right red or green squares constalation, made a trade and become rich.

You have to monitor the Candles, switch the TFs for a bigger picture back and forth, monitor the Price Action, monitor the support and resistance lines, the Pivots and the Coral and the overbought or oversold. Some times other pairs too..

And then, when you have ALL this in your mind
then the MTF gives you a little extra hint what to do..

And then you will maybe close your trade in green..

And not only lurk for perfect magic settings..

ahh good old days when i was nervous if i have correct settings for this Ea and that indicator losing most of the trades and blaming wrong settings and missing correct entries its painful and exhausting... If you dont have right market informations you can have many rainbows over the chart and it wont bring dime. timing is your best friend

I can get any readings in the data window for the SAH 4.82. the SAH 4.11 shows up but the data is useless. I see a agreat setup for an EA but with no MQ4 or data window it is impossible. Is there any way the buffers can be shown??

Agree 100%. I have said many times that first I look for where I think a trade should happen (like big fibs, pivots, big S/R, THEN I look for candle/pattern confirmation (like DT, DB, H&D, higher highs, higher lows etc) and only THEN I look for the trix to enter the trade.

I also look for the trix to warn about a coming change with divergence and missmatching trixs.


Some people can do both those things without an indicator to confirm it, just by watching the price action (and I have to admit that I'm getting better at that too, and it gives signals earlier) but I still like to wait for the trix to confirm it. (After all, what is the trix anyway? Just a triple exponential moving average - and if you can judge how price is moving in your head you don't need it.)

I would also add that you need to be mindful of the time of day - the Franky fake and the London close are well known examples.

And Cobra has said many times that you have to know how to trade to use THV. That's why the trix signal says "Analyze charts" - you always have to analyze and have a feel for the market before you take the signal.

The buffers are the same in all the versions (except the bug fix for 416.) - buf1_up, buf1_down... buf4_up, buf4_down. They show either the empty value (except for the bug fix for 416, where they show -1) or a value >0 (depends on what the user puts in Pn_position and Gap) in order to fill up the appropriate cube in the row. That's how all the mtf indies like this work - that's what makes them put the lights in the right color and position. So if you want to test for if a row is red (for example) you test if buf1_up is empty and buf1_down is >0). If you want the exact values that the indicators on which the cubes are based are returning you don't need the SAH. Just write an EA using whatever combination of indicators that you like in the SAH.

If using 5min TF then what is the SL? and are You then still going only for 10pips? Thanks in advance

But when you have 50-60 pip days m5 is definitely less stressful because you need that bigger picture to understand what is going on at all.

Lately on the 5 m I've been going for the distance between the swing high or low and my entry point unless the entry was triggered by a really large momentum bar (15-20 pips). Then I put the stop above/below the bar and go for the length of the bar.

Hey dailyincome

Read through all your previous 10 posts on FF and it seems people are just trying to be polite to you.

Most people here will tell you to ... as this method is free and no one needs to prove anything.

I have gone through the entire thread for the last 2 months and I have truly enjoyed the process of understanding how they developed the system.

So much so, I wish Cobra would still be around but ....

As Misspips mentioned, the probability of success is between 65 and 80% and she has been using the system since the beginning which is about 4 years ago.

She definitely would not still be using this system if it does not work would she?

I rest my case.

You can try your request over in the THV EA thread, although I would suggest phrasing it a bit more politely. This thread is for manual (i.e discretionary) traders. One thing that is slightly misleading is that THV is , in my opinion, a method and not a system (in the sense that a system is a set of predefined signals where you always take a trade when you see them, with predefined risk, target and money management). That is one reason why the classic method says "Analyze buy" or "Analyze sell" and not "Buy" or "Sell".

This means that most traders in this room probably won't take a trade everytime they get a signal, nor will all of them use the same money management or set the same stops or targets. Also probably a lot of people here trade more than one way. I know I do, depending on the market. If there's a really well behaved trending market , I'll use 1m rainbow entries and not be too picky but if we're in a 60 pip chop range I'll look much harder and rely more on higher timeframe divergence at a place where I'm really pretty sure there will be a trade. before I enter.


I did test the 6 lights method for about three months in the winter/spring of 2009 and post all my trades on Cobra's private site. I did take all the trades were a signal was given and the results were between 65 to 85% hit rate, depending on the day. The average was around 80%, with some days being 90% and very few days being 65%. But even that hit rate was predicated on correctly identifying divergence on the 1m and higher timeframes, and always trading with it and never against it, which in itself is a skill you have to acquire because the THV divergence arrows are often too late.

In addition, the market has changed since then -it is more choppy, and the daily ranges are smaller. (The average range even six months ago was 140 pips, lately it's been about 70 or less.) It's also my impression that the trends are less well behaved (a lot more huge 1m bars followed by consolidation and then another huge move rather than gently rolling waves like there used to be - probably a lot more HFT bots at work than there used to be. Any veteran trader will tell you it's harder to trade the market now than it was two or three years ago.)

That's why we're manual traders over here - we believe you have to adapt your trading to market conditions and that first you learn how to trade and then you use THV appropriately to help you find a good entry point.


Therefore seeing someone else's results from this thread won't tell you much because it won't tell you if you have the ability to recognize and correctly adapt to different market conditions.
