Jayjonbeach alerted us to the longer term possibilities of this one. Seems this is a market predictor today because it stayed up while EU headfaked down and whipped back up (again, I believe to kill shorters as Master Sonicdeejay said of Friday's move up).

Anyway, this is looking like it might set up for a short. Waiting to see. Of course, if this starts down, so too will EU most likely do the same.

Sonic, i am also interested in an answer to this question. From the attached pic, I saw 2 short setups, and without seeing the two bars circled in red, I cant see a way of knowing that the setups were "false".

I am confused. Would someone be so kind as to explain if they saw different?

Why did Master Sonicdeejay take the EU long trade?

Answer:

Look at the tall green volume bar and the tall green candle that went with it, one TF before he entered. And this was a bounce up off the HALF NUMBER, which is significant SR, as well as a bounce up off the central pivot for the day. (And I was asleep. Oh well.)

If you see something like this play out and you are short, do you just take as a caution or already as an indication to start covering or exit short positions?

I know you are a veteran here, just sharing my thoughts for the board and especially anyone fairly new.

I always think of it like Sales, where I worked 20+ years and psychology is a big part of the game, just like here. It's just a NO, and you're that much closer to the Yes. They are both just a numbers game, for me anyway. In Sales you can even psych yourself into being happy with the No, thinking the yes is just that much closer. In trading if your RR is good, your "yes's" are always much bigger than your "no's" so when your method is good, a nice big win is right around the corner since you are winning at least 50% of the time or more on average.

So it's a nice small loss, which are the best kind and TAH fully executed his plan staying disciplined, which is key for the loss to stay small. Of course in trading we should be keeping a diary and looking especially at the losses, and what mistakes were made if any in order to learn from them. (I would offer angle of the Dragon).

Always remember in this game nothing is more important than protecting your captial, to ensure you live to trade another day.

Excellent post, jayjonbeach. And you hit the nail on the head, too; the angle of the Dragon was the true story teller here. I mentioned the angle was not down in my post of the setup (about 20 minutes before I entered). At entry, only the tip was just showing a slight bend down. So, this falls in the catagory of NOT being picky! And the price for that was having the SL hit. I was too eager to trade, I think, and I "forgot" about being picky. Forget about "price-volume" stories until the Sonic R. FUNDAMENTALS are all lined up as they should be. THEN, if the price-volume story agrees, so much the better. I was influenced by the price-volume picture, and waved the angle of the Dragon,......Big Mistake!

(On the other hand, Master Sonicdeejay took his long trade without proper wave and with the Dragon angled against him, presumably based on the price-volume situation. And it went very well. I guess the market bows to Master Sonicdeejay!)

Seriously, both myself and Master Sonicdeejay took "improper" trades, based on the Sonic R. System parameters. I didn't get lucky, and he did. But this is not the Sonic R. System way to do things. Just so all Sonicers know this.

TY TAH. In both Sales and Trading it is very easy to get 'down on yourself', especially if you hit a string of "no's" or losses. So important is the mental game and confidence in your method, in order to shake off the loss and be sure to take the very next good set up in order to keep the odds in your favour and win% intact, something we know you do extremely well BUT many people fail to do.

I forget which book/trader this comes from but it sticks with me, "Never judge yourself by losses, judge yourself by your adherence to your rules".

I kept this chart from previous week. I find it interesting that the price is at the same "high mark" area as the preceding two weeks (which is also a low mark from PA history). It is like the market is holding the price up, can't or won't take it higher, and is waiting on the next bearish engulfing candle event.....
