Your recovery method is bit different from Al's. Whatever works for you is fine. I think it makes perfect sense to use recovery with TMA system (probably not with trend following systems though). But old habits die hard. I'm having a hard time to adopt it. There are also trade-offs. Too much capital could be tied up to recover the initial relatively small drawdown. In order to use this method we have to trade with small lots. We therefore have to trade large account to make the profit meaningful. Well, I guess we can't have the best of both sides. If we want to take some we have to give up some and it's only fair.

normtold, You're so right. If we want to trade the swing highs and swing lows we have to face the repaint issue. There is no absolute correct way to trade them. We're bound to make mistakes. Recovery method nicely deal with them without loosing pips. It's just old stubborn me who still tries to trade with stop losses. Semafor is one of the experiments to try to enter closer to the last swing high or swing low thus to minimize the SL. Of course it's impossible to pin point the tops and bottoms every time. I'm definitely going to be stopped out. What I'm looking for is the percentage.

Semafor only gives a head up that price is about to turn. Other confirmation is essential. During the experiment I found that semafor helps exits more than entries. If we exit on trix color change only after semafor 3 appears. In most cases we exit with more pips. Actually if we can "perfect" the exits then we also have a good spot to open opposite trade at the same time.

In my experiment I only trade semafor 3's. Semafor 1's and 2's are used to count the HH, LL, LH, HL and the waves. For example recently semafor 3 indicated to long GU from 1.6006, and EU from 1.3107. They both have repainted several times since. Now GU just came out of buy only mode and EU is still in it (M15). If we're able to filter out a few of the repaints then we are in good profit. Hi Flaw,

Do you by any chance have a version of Semafor which does not repaint or which shows previous positions if it does repaint ? Just want to do a thorough back test to see what sort of accuracy % one would have over a time period via this indicator..

P.S. If anybody else has this, appreciate if it can be posted. Many thanks !

P.P.S. Surfnomad - U seem to be having all the non-repainting versions of the indicators ! lol ! Do u have the same for Semafor or one that shows previous positions if it does repaint ? Cheers mate..

Frank, can you tell me what percentage of winners you have with Extreme TMA using stops? How do you set your stops? A certain number of pips away? At swing high or low? I want to start trading the system in one of my accounts with stops now and compare the results to the Recovery system. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The market is a perpetual succession of waves. I believe no indicator portrays the actual movement of the market like TMA does. TMA True doesnīt capture these waves as well. TMA tries to predict the future wave upcoming and it adapts itself once it is created to encompass the mean of price. Take into account that the current price is accurate in TMA and after all, that is the price you trade. The outer bands are critical to the system since they are the reference for Rule 2. Once you master TMA, the repainting issue is not as important because you can begin to get a feel as to how the bands will repaint.

I am using semaphor now simply because it is one more way to get a heads up of a possible direction change. Still, the biggest and most accurate signal of impending change is when Slope leaves a buy only or sell only and returns to the Ranging area. That, coupled with a Trix or RSI divergence, followed by a Fast Trix or HA change in color, is almost a sure proof way to identify the change in direction.

Most of the time we get into trouble is because we did not follow these steps to the letter. If you do, you will rarely miss. Even me, with the decades of experience, still get too smart sometimes and fall in the trap of early entry. Afterwards, when I analyze what happened, I look at what the system was indicating and I ask myself why in the world did I jump the gun when it was clearly right in front of me?

Last week, Apple share down -2.8%, google share down -4%, it made US Stock drawdown last week,.

Copper/LME/ chart 30day, which is important industry material, also downside.

Commodity also downside, those market actions impact Forex at the same time in 2012.

Now, look at Gold price@1642 last week, we will see what it will up or downside ?

Frank, if you want more pips, you should pay more attention to MTF TMA. For example, when I enter from M1 I usually try to exit when price reaches the opposite border of M5 TMA and sometimes even the border of M15 TMA.

Of course, in order to do it you have to look at MTF TMA before you enter and evaluate the trade seeing a big picture
