i'd love to see the eurusd with a gap up at 1.34 over the weekend... why not...

I've really tried it, believe me.

What did I try? To find a reason for a GAP UP to 1.34.
Well, I couldn't find it. Not technically and not fundamentally.

Technically, we didn't get higher highs/higher lows Friday on the 4 hour, actually although it was minor, we did get lower highs and lower lows on the 4 hours. Just by 1 pip.

And fundamentally? That would only give a reason for a huge GAP DOWN!

So please enlighten me what could be a reason for a GAP UP other than just "why not"?

i am not finding a reason. its technical i posted the chart a while ago, i got the signal and the target is 1.340x if we didn't break the lows. if we break lower, the target will be adjusted and if there is momentum building for the bearish i would close the long and open short... but so far its bullish on EURGPB and EURUSD...
as for GOLDEUR i got into immature trades a bit too soon, but hope they will be fine.

Does it hurt being helpful towards a 'novice' trader.

If, and only if, he is trading in this business in 2 years from now, I wonder who's advice will be more prudent: bringing his thought process to a level of realization to such a ridiculous question, or a hypothetical scenario much like the one you divulged. Yours of course is more popular than mine. His defense of my comment spoke volumes. My intent was not to offend, but rather bring perspective to his "novice" plight....

Just a thought.
While this forum is immense resource don't let others influence your decisions.
Learned a lesson.
I read too many dire predictions on Euro/USD here on this thread which made me hesitate taking long on 070's and sat at sideslines only to shoot to 209
130 pips opportunity missed.
I just want to remind posters here, use common sense and be mindful of people posting complicated charts showing dire situations probably have fear factor ingrained into them due to numerous losses.
Use your own judgement.
In trading, you have to be defensive and aggressive at the same time

you see we are in a very good situation coming from a weekend closing at 1.3120

the way I structure my price targets is 20 50 80 and 00 so any number in between is just a part of the respective quartile.

before the NFP we saw a pump and dump move as we went up in price....i did not trade spot i traded digital options in cases like this.

then as the NFP numbers came more positive than usuall we SHOULD HAVE seen a risk on environment where equities and bond yields go up and risky currencies as well so the influx of cash goes out of low yields into higher yielding assets like the Eur,gbp, aud, and out of the yen and USD.

but we didnt see that, the correlation was broken, the Green back gained and equities gained as well, perhaps low yield but confidence in US assets and equities, created this lack of correlation phenomena.

the deal is up, GREECE DEFAULTED, and the ISDA has called a credit event (partial if anything) but the CDS will be triggered and I bet a lot of financial institutions will feel the pain, so if you are into equities keep an eye on the banks of the EZ, probably why all those dollar swaps were being done back door....anyway.

as you can see the chart sitting at 1.3120 the price completely erased previous gains, and the overall trend is bearish while this was a correction, short positions would be my best bet on spot, 1.31 is key here, entering into Monday we can see stop hunts happening maybe creating a gap up and i can see 1.3150 being hit for the hunts but anything higher should in my opinion be taken as an opportunity to get a good price.

i will be shorting in two parts 1/2 my allocated position will be taken above 1.31 and the other half when we clearly break through at 1.3050, 1.3080 or so.......
