His 10MA crossover is dynamite. I am studying it now and I think I understand it enough I could do a EA for it. I just need to watch it in action for a while so I can get a feel for how it works. It uses a variation of shadow trading (using the same MA numbers but using shifts to get a crossover. However, his uses negative shifts which I have never tried before. I understand how it works now looking at a formula for coding. Give it some time. He has a nice twist to the 1.0 system.

Where can I see this 10MA in action? Is it the crossover lines on Al's system? I can see the 5x5 on his TMA system but not the 10MA?

It is the other lines and the histogram is based on it. When those lines cross above and below the TMA it is a solid trade.

Hello Bob,

I am trying to learn how to fish.

In the below chart I see price action above the red line (weekly trend) so we are in an UT.
Price action is above the blue (daily) MA line.

There is the first daily resistance line at 1.00377 so I have set a buy stop above that line at 1.00410
TP below the next resistance line 1.00480
SL at the support line 1.00188

Comments welcome.

Another question, do you have a PDF or chart where you have placed different pairs into either trending or ranging. I seem to remember reading one a while back but cannot find it.

Bob - I'm not sure I follow the 10ma cross set-up. It looks like some sort of standard deviation ma providing an envelope but I don't see the set-ups? How will this improve your current system?

Incidentally, are you using Squalou's Weekly SR level indy as well as the daily or are you still trading the MTF weekly line?

Yes the JPY look good. Their habit after a sharp run up is at least a 50% or more run back quickly. Doing good so far on them.

They should be in the downloads pg 1 pg 1. I have them in word documents or pictures taken from my MT4.

Yes I use the weekly and daily S/R lines. It is very rare for me to use a 4H. The only time I use it is if I close too early and I want to get back into the move. I also use the MTF weekly if price moves above/below and I think I can get back into the trend. That type of trade will usually show up best on Monday or Tuesday with the MTF weekly line. I also get wary if I see price going away from that line in the wrong direction which may indicate the present trend move is over.

You will have to give me time with the 10MA because I will use it slightly differently than it is coded. I seem to have a good idea on using it but need to test my theory. I get lots of theories but when tested in the real world the idea gets dumped. For example I have a 10.9 system because 10.2 to 10.8 were not so hot. 10.9 is a variation of trading on the 15M which may simplify his system but needs some testing. It combos his with 10.0 but different indicators. Weekly and daily MTF w/ S/R instead of TMA.

When I zoom in to the charts the indicator for the MACD (red line) shows almost oversold near the 90 region however if I zoom out it shows that it is more around the 50%. Which one is the accurate one? More specifically should I zoom into my charts to get a read or zoom out?

The larger the TF the more accurate, but again, these indicators are lagging, as a pass information. Use them as indicators after you have study the chart on price actions and SR levels.

Here is a more complete answer on the MACD STO dynamic. Understanding how they work helps you in your analysis.

The Sto are fixed indicators, in other words when they hit the top (100)/bottom(0) there is no where else to go. They are set to a scale of 1-100. The MACD is a floating indicator and has no set scale, if it hits 100 it will keep going. For example you will see the numbers at the right on a MACD box will get bigger if price keeps going up. That tells you how far it is from the median which is set at 0. You will notice that the 0 will float up and down with the MACD but the STO 0 which is the bottom will not. So in an uptrend the numbers are positive and in a downtrend those numbers are negative. The longer or bigger the UT/DT the bigger those numbers will get. So when you change the screen you are making the box bigger(LONGER) and that will change the appearance of the MACD. So the two indicators are a box in side a box, one which is flexible (MACD) and one which if fixed (STO) so the MACD will appear to change when you change the window (BOX) because the median 0 is changing depending how far above or below it goes from the median 0. So simply MACD is an indicator that tells you how far from the median (0) price action is and STO tells you what price is doing based on a fixed number from 0 to 100. I dont know if you understood that or not but that is how it works.

I have gone through the Zip from page 1 of this thread but the document I am looking for is not in there.
I spent the last hour going to all 11 of the threads you have started and opening the Zips on the first page of each but no luck.

I know I have seen somewhere you put some pairs like the commodity pairs into the section that can go on a long run with no retrace.

I have an idea for a strategy that I am setting up on an EA and it would suit pairs that are not renowned for going on long runs, it would suit ranging pairs like A/N.

I did not trade full months for Dec and Jan but they both were in the 5-6% increase of account range. Feb has not been that kind to me but it is not a problem at this point. I will be very busy with my school here in China. I am facing some of the most difficult decisions in my life so trading will be taking a back seat for me over the next couple of months. I will be doing some trading but the time I spend on it will be much less. Basically I am facing my very survival with my business and school here. It is a very tough time to be doing business as a foreigner in China right now.
