You can never know... there might be some banks or hedge funds pushing the EUR further to take in some profits... the USD data wasn't very important.. this rise of the EUR doesn't make much sense in terms of economic data..

LONDON, Feb 24 (IFR) - EUR/USD rises as risk interests increase in the wake of US data and stops in the 30s and above 1.3450 have aided the latest push higher. Silly bull boys must know if bear players come back from extreme overbought plus very high point then it will be very hard to hit their SL. Bull will be the looser again.

He agreed with that line (fxxx the Dodd Frank-Act) but had complaints from traders about it.

Well simply because strange things and illogical happens.

When there is good data from US investors believe that world's first economy would be in good shape and everyone will follow so investors get money form US, buy more risky assets/currency and value of dollar fall. If there something bad they sell and switch to dollar - economic theory says good data good currency but, right now in this times of trust crisis things are irrational like here - investors bought some idea that Greece will be fine I can't tell you for sure 6 months from today things will be the same - euro is pumping hugely by thin air I wouldn't be surprised if there is bulletin saying ECB gives credits to big eu banks to boost the euro strength I'm expecting a massive sell off so beware with longs
