morning all....
we have better than expected kiwi unemployment data...but still under 8380 with huge pin bar in 1h chart..

euro remain above 3230...bt unable to break 3285

Yeah there's a lot of uncertainty and the political leaders have been playing their own political poker games. Time is running out but they clearly don't give a s**t about the country, the people, Europe and the rest of the world.

I entered long GBP/NZD at 1.89429 and my stop was at the previous swing low at 1.8868 so I had around an 80 pip buffer. The stop was also below a descending trendline dating back to the 25/1/12 that had been broken on the upside - stop was 24 pips below the trendline.

I do take your point though that there wasn't really any horizontal support above my stop - just trendline support. Also take your point about volume/time of day - although on NZ and Aussie these are our market hours. Much as I would love to trade regularly during London/NY, that is 2am for us here in NZ.

The spike came down from 1.8943 so a good 77 pip spike down.

At the time of my entry, price had indeed pulled back about 50% from the run that broke the trendline.

Thanks very much for your help and taking the time to reply to my question. I'm pretty happy with my entry and would probably do it again on the same setup - just learned (got reminded) to check for near term news first, so at least the loss taught/reminded me of something - which is more important in the long game, right?

Trade is currently going the right way according to my original entry but just ran into some horizontal resistance at 1.8980. I think it is going to trendline resistance at 1.94-95 eventually but its a counter trend trade on a daily chart over 3 months.

FWIW, just hearing on the news that the improved employment numbers are due to an increase in part time employment - so its a bit of a deceptive number from a fundamental standpoint.

Arhs, while Greece was receiving money from the EU, Greek people where happy, politicians were steeling money.
What about paying some taxes like the developed countries?

Greek people have a bigger quality life that they should have, all because the European funds that Greece received from years.

All Politicians fault.
People should understand now, that they must suffer because of years of living above real possibilities and because of the politicians that the people have choose. In the end, this is always Greek people guilty.

I don't understand what Greek people want with the manifestations? What, you don't want to pay your loans? Why? Didn't you use the money to have a better life?

I don't understand...
Well what happened was really bad and there are a lot of parties to blame: greek politicians, greek people mostly but also European leaders and those who lend all this money to Greece. That's a huge discussion and useful but what is mportant is the NOW.

How do you deal with the problem now? People are willing to make sacrifices but can they trust their leaders who prove every day to be nothing more than clowns? Can they trust the IMF/EU policies? 2 years of austerity measures have brought misery but no real economic improvement.

It's really hard to give good answers to these people. I just quote the big questions I have no answers.
