Is anyone having problems accessing google mail and yahoo mail. Its weired i can get this site and a few other news sites trading etc but not Google mail and yahoo stuff. Sorry about off topic just weired not being able to access main sites like that???

That was weired for a while everything back up now.

In fact, each bill said "United States Note" right at the top. Unfortunately, United States Notes are not being issued today. If you stop right now and pull a dollar out of your wallet, what does it say right at the top? It says "Federal Reserve Note". Normally, the way our current system works is that whenever more Federal Reserve Notes are created more debt is also created. This debt-based monetary system is systematically destroying the wealth of this nation. But it does not have to be this way. The truth is that the U.S. government still has the power under the U.S. Constitution to issue debt-free money, and we need to educate the American people about this.

When money moves into American stocks DJ/SP, does USD go up as well as stocks must be bought with American currency?

Oil is bought using USD, oil is up today. Overall money is flowing into USD.

As you know I'm new to intermarket analysis. Am I on the right tracks?

Hope all is well and had great weekend.

The rule is that if the USD goes up, then stocks go down. If stocks does up, USD goes down.

Non-intuitive, but the way it works more often than not.

These forms of value work in early mercantilist (pre-capitalist) systems. As the depth of competition extends along with the constant struggle for market share, all forms of process emerge to extract the maximum surplus from an ever diminishing cake of value. Bring back mercantilism, and your trading freedoms would be one of the first casualties as speculation is constrained.

Oil price increases also contemplate growth and are bullish, equities wise.

sound money = liabilities in our treasury deposits in the form of gold liabilities by the entire world as we are the reserve currency.

paper money= liability in our credibility not to destroy our own money through senseless spending and debasement of the currency.

if we continue to be the Reserve currency we can export inflation and continue to consume the worlds goods by printing worthless papers and controlling the entire global financial system. If we back up our papers we would have to have enough deposits of gold or silver to meet our obligations, and it would be incredibly hard to meet the world's demand for liquidity in USD denominated assets.

a conundrum at best.

we would need fiscally sound, and honest responsible politicians, with intelligence and the best interest of the american people at heart.......................................i bet that won't happen soon

I know this sounds basic and kind of naive, but isn't printing money basically cheating?

Politicians play in the global field. We commoners (bar the fabulously wealthy) still think in national terms.

Bearing in mind that the US is basically a global currency, it derives its value from the labour surplus extracted in low wage zones such as China and India. Hence the love affair with these countries, especially China. Were the relationship to decouple, inflation would onset at a raging pace as the value of the US$ plummeted. However, for the moment, there is sufficient surplus to underwrite the printing which is why inflation is relatively tame.

well ideally printing paper was, if i am not mistaken adopted, precisely because of our obligations via gold deposits was too great.............we defaulted in the 1970's as the gold standard was closed; except it was a in an insidius manner.

If I am not mistaken France cashed their papers for Gold and we decided that we would not honor our own instruments as we did not possess enough quantities of Aurum to liquidate our promissory notes.

As the worlds sole super power with the worlds reserve currency, The USD is the most important currency in the world. The demand for USD, and the need for Dollar liquidity is great. So an elastic currency is needed, however, the relationship between the role of our currency in the international market is antagonistic to our domestic needs. This is evident by the fact that we have abused the power of the fiat currency to finance entitlements and programs that we simply cannot sustain. This has not turned into hyperinflation due to our ability to export inflation globally.

Our economy however has suffered greatly from white collar fraud, and mal investments, bubble creation due precisely to our power to print seemingly without any consequences. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Bandits could steal gold, but they couldn't steal a note written by one bank and honored by another. Then everybody found out that carrying around paper notes was so much easier than carrying around gold and silver so it came into wide spread use. Then governments found that printing was easier than collecting taxes for public works. Paper money is easier than gold.

Both the revolutionary war and the civil war were fought with a wholely fiat currency unbacked by precious metals. So if you want to blame somebody then Washington and Lincoln should be at the top of the list.

you are correct, china and Japan thousands of years ago, tried the concept. In fact paper money has been tried through out history..............having said that, what has been the result?

do you think this time it will be different?

The result is pretty conclusive. It is even more conclusive if you look at the 20th century.

Paper money works until the government collapses (note, it typically does not cause the government to collapse and thus is a symptom of collapse not a cause). So the USD will probably work until the US government collapses. At that time we will have greater worries than the monetary system.

Check out the link to hyperinflation in the wikipedia. Ask yourself the following questions:

1. How common is it?
2. How long does it last?
3. What usually precedes a monetary failure?
4. What type of monetary system usually follows a failed fiat monetary system?

that statement is a bit inaccurate.

the Roman Dinarius was debased till it it was worthless, the Chinese Flying money created hyperinflation and subsequent refusal to accept it.
even kublai khan attempted the feat.

in our own history, the continentals were also debased. Since the creation of the Fed approx 96% of the dollar has been destroyed, when the gold standard was closed we even implemented price controls due to the inflation levels.

i believe history is on the side of hard money, although with globalization i have outlined the liquidity challenge there should be a form of check and balances on how our fiat currency is created.

i do not think it is merely a result of a government collapse
