yes, granted the BOJ lets you park your dollars in yen, they have been intervening to keep it from appreciating

This is hilarious.

I am really having fun with this one. Whenever you have a look at Daily Telegraph, it is heavily bearish. Right now only thing they have to do is qoute Cameron, so it is quite easy, but even when there are some proeuropean news, Murdoch twists it so Euro looks like a looser.

Can you elaborate a bit more? I understand the purchases more assets part but why would they want toxic EU dev?

EDIT: isn't USD considered safe haven and would rise in value in case of a EU crisis?

The main problem is globalization. If Eurozone fails, it will be such a massive wave of bank collapse it would heavily strike US banks. And who do you think are those lenders? Yes EU ows some to IMF, and ECB, but loads are from, guess who...

If Europe goes default, GS will loose their assets. And Bernie as a retired GS employee cant allow that! No way sir.

Anyway, even if it wasnt for GS bastards, Europe default would strike whole world heavily. So yes, US is kinda safe haven from European trouble, but nevertheless economies are connected and US officials cant let EU fail.

edit: btw, it is not only Goldman, it is JPMorgan as well, City, and so on.
edit no2: And how about MF Global? This br0ker failed coz he was betting on bailout of Greece and the rest of PIIGS. That is perfect example of how failure in Europe strikes US.

I read Martin Armstrongs report on MF Global.... it's a bit disturbing and quite worrying for any investor.

Basically Armstrong claims those guys were using clients funds for their own speculation and when everything tanked they were not properly held to account, nor were client funds repaid in full. The BIG guys are being protected and hard earned investor money is being used with impunity.

If what he says is true, one can only presume that a 'day of reckoning' is not that far away.

If the trustees are able to prove that criminal fraud occurred, we will see jail and liquidation of personal holdings of MF execs et al

Well, that bit about PT inspired the following. Feel free to disagree if you think I am wrong.

PT -- Master Assassin. He never takes a risk and he always gets his target.

PK-- Mercenary. He steadfastly soldiers to the enemy line, collects his pay, enlists with the other side and then soldiers back.

Buma -- Acrobat. He leaps from idea to idea and position and position. We all worry he is going to fall, but he keeps on leaping.

Tom -- Barbarian bandit. He waits on the edge of civilization (PA) and when PA gets close he leaps out like a barbarian and shorts it savagely.

Nubcake -- Technical bastard. I don't know anything about his trading style other than he is both quant and quaint, but technically he is a bastard.

Red Lion -- Heroic lion. He has a taste for risk and battle. He is heroic because he likes to countertrend trade.

FXMindset -- Heroic ninja. He has some really strange moves, is always leaping out of nowhere and likes to counter trend trade.

The Fool -- Joker. He is always asking the all important question"why so serious" while he is kicking my ass.

MLA -- Brawler. He looks at the ongoing PA tussle and then leaps in with both fists swinging.

Wulfgar -- Retired Viking Raider. He talks like a bandit but he trades like a farmer (He would rather watch his trade grow than harvest it).

Gofer Pips -- Gofer. He pops in and out, taking profit with conviction.

Goldman -- Opportunist. He has no loyalty and always fights on the winning side.

Knoholygrail -- Prophet. He has an apocalyptic vision of the future which he loudly proclaims but this does not stop him from earning his name yet again by taking profits over and over.

DDDD -- Juvenile delinquent genius. He loves to play pranks and add to the graffiti on FF, but when it comes to IQ he has some serious wattage.

Cloggie -- Chief Petty Officer. He is highly competent with a love of order, a foul mouth and a taste for abusive humor.

Pbh -- PhD trainee. He is well on his way to earning his doctorate, but is not there just yet.

I have read countless articles recently regarding the inevitability of QE3. I have disagreed for four reasons.

 

1. Price of oil near $100 give Fed little choice
2. Rising price of food gives Fed little choice
3. Stock market has risen on air and hype of European bailout giving Fed little reason
4. Falling unemployment rate (even though it's totally bogus) gives Fed little reason
