GoMarkets is a STP broker so they make their money through spread. Because of this you can't expect them to refund you slippage.

I know you don't want to hear this but seriously, I don't see how a business can take onboard losses that they have no control of, it's different with non STP's as they make money trading against their clients so slippage refunds no doubt come from client money anyway.

From what I can tell It's not only us traders who've lost out, gomarkets have probably lost heaps now that all the EA liquidity has been squashed.

Or we could all move to a new broker. I am looking at Axitrader at the moment.

Just a note for people interested in trading from an ipad.

I use an app called 'RDP' and remote desktop back to my PC at home, which is running Metatrader (essentially as my own VPS) - Yes my PC is on all the time, but I find it to work very well.

If anyone wants more details on how to set it up PM me.

Cheers
Seb

Is any one using gomarkets with an iPad??

I can enter volume and open orders but I can't enter stop loss and t.p.

I read the user guide, the window w/volume top right. When I press volume, my keyboard opens, but when I press on s/l or t/p nothing...

Can anyone help?

I use Axis there pretty good order speed could be quicker but its consistent so you know what your going to get, slippage goes both ways so no back end program running on the slippage that I can see anyway. Spreads are really good around what GO used to be.

Hello All,

Just following up this week.

In regard to last weeks NFP, our spreads were a little inconsistent before the release. We did speak immediately to our LP and those who have traded news this week would have seen much tighter spreads.

We just had unemployment data produce an unexpected rise and saw a 40 pips fall in AUDUSD, spread with us was max 7.2 pips on the release with ticks coming through less than 1.4 pips seconds later. Both Canadian and Aussie rates had spread not move out until a few seconds before and were max 9.9(USDCAD) and 6.9 (AUDUSD) pips respectively as the data was published.

The spread averages have come down this week and will continue to in the coming weeks as we further work on our product.

In terms of the ipad, best to give the guys a call here for troubleshooting.

Cheers,
Joel

Hi Joel,

The easiest way to check your performance is to go to FX Intel and show Vantage, Axitrader and GO.

Lately GO always seems to be higher than the other 2, when we also have to allow for slippage on entries and exits it does make GO rather expensive.

Everyone should have a goal in life, maybe yours could be having GO the lowest of the three, not the highest, work to be done

Open slippage, close slippage, spread widening if thats normal than yes, its back to normal Mohan.

Scalping is not an option with GoMarkets anymore, I wont trade anything under the hourly chart with these guys now and next year I think I will move my funds to Axitrader!

Nothing lasts forever and the good run with GoMarkets (over 3 years) is coming to an end.

Shameful.

The only thing keeping me with GoMarkets is that I'm new to trading, and haven't been doing much as of late (I'm trying to remain disciplined and stick to learning).. Also, I haven't tried any other brokers so thus can't make any comparisons.

Apart from that, the main thing keeping me there is the move to the new phone platform.. Much better than the metatrader phone platform.

Time will tell, I suppose..

Is GOM still 100% STP?

Given GOM advertises (or at least used to) they draw liquidity from “70 banks and institutions”, their spreads should be outstanding, but these days, looking at exotics such as GBPAUD and EURNZD, it isn’t the case.

To give GOM credit, their spreads on even these exotics were at one time very well priced.

That said, I wonder if GOM are doing a bit of MM (internal hedging) these days, given the overall increases in spreads on exotics, and other pairs!!

The Xogee one which recently replaced the metatrader mobile platform.

Would you recommend GOM if to trade live?
Or others like what you wrote Vantage and Axitrader?
To choose one for the latter, which one would you go for?
Thanks & Cheers

I haven't traded with the others so I can't say really. There are threads on both so you can have a read there or simply Google some reviews on the others.

GO used to be the best spreads until the problems started, still with them at the moment but not trading much due to other factors.

I am hoping that by the time I get back into it they will have sorted out the problems and return to their previous standards.
