This is an easing of monetary policy in China. I think the idea is that more money in China will mean that they buy a lot more stuff and the world economy will be supported by Chinese demand.

To me this is a sign that things are really bad. China had been in a life and death war with inflation for the better part of a year. They have been losing until recently... now they are holding inflation steady at just about 6%.

This is a major policy reversal and it signals that now the Chinese have worse problems than inflation. As everybody knows, the Chinese don't like to reverse their policies, and the anti-flationary stance has been their number one policy for the last year. So this, combined with a 3%+ tanking of the Chinese equity markets today on top of the equity markets being down over 25% off of last years high says that things are bad and getting worse.

50bps means 0.5% or something around 50 pips.

bps = basis points
1 basis point = 0.01
50 basis points = 0.5

This move should increase liquidity. A form of QE which is inflationary.
China's inflation is already quite high at around 6% so this move is definitely a sign that the book is not as nice as its cover.

All depends if the 1.3320 resistance holds. It has been quite strong support so usually it means that it is strong resistance once broken. Time will tell.

I've been holding small "risk on" trades across 26 pairs all week. I'm tired of the short term day trade whip saw action so I've been trading off the daily charts since last week and doing much better.


Now if I quit goofing off and napping so much this week I might beat PT with the news race.
