Europe Is Developing Rescue Fatigue

If you're in an airplane and survive a crash on a desert island, you're going to be euphoric when you get rescued by an ocean liner.

When that ocean liner hits an iceberg and you end up in a life raft in the North Atlantic, you're going to be pretty happy when the military submarine finds you and picks you up.

When that military submarine is crippled by a nuclear accident, you're going to be mighty relieved when the helicopter winches you to safety.

But you're also going to be expecting the helicopter to run out of fuel before you get to the safety of land... or hit a mountain... or develop a chronic case of metal fatigue... or lose a rotor...

Which is kind of where investors are these days. Watching bits of the helicopter fall off, while being told by the captain that it's OK, there's enough money on board to cushion the fall.

Disaster/rescue fatigue seems to be creeping into the markets. Every rescue attempt wears off more quickly than the last one.

German Economy Minister Philipp Roesler said it most succinctly when he said the EU needs to cut back the number of crisis summits it holds.

But the reason these summits are so necessary so often is because the fundamental problem is never properly addressed. And that problem is the big burden of debt, of financial-sector debt, of sovereign debt and, across Anglo-Saxon economies, household debt.

Everyone keeps hoping somebody else will pay it off. But what needs to be done is for the pain to be shared out evenly.

Debtors hope to default or to have inflation erode their burden. Creditors want to be paid back in full.

In some cases, creditors are whistling in the wind. Greece is never going to pay back what it owes and trying to force it to do so will just cause increasingly more irreparable damage to the Greek economy. But Greece also has to make sure it never gets back to where it was, which means much more painful structural adjustment.

Creditors, which means bank bondholders and not just those invested in sovereign debt, need to take some losses on Irish and Portuguese debt and, probably, on Italian and Spanish too. But here also, countries need to make very substantial adjustments. Spain just can't continue with the regulatory absurdities that keep its official jobless rate in double digits even in good times.

Living standards have to fall sharply across these countries to the point where they're living within their means.

As for inflation, voters have chosen a 2% rate and the onus on central banks is to stick to it. If voters want a transfer of resources from creditors to debtors to be driven by money printing then elected officials should decide on this course, not central bankers. And elected officials must be made to bear the consequences for their decisions.

Until the issue of debt is addressed--between countries and within them as in the case of the U.S. and U.K.--economic malaise will predominate. And crisis meetings will be endemic.

I find the visuals of the THV extremely good for identifying when momentum is slowing and reversing for higher probability entries. It's a great odds enhancer.

Picking entry I'm using a stripped out bar chart with both bull and bear bars grey. Only have a 5 and 10 sma on it and draw in my supply and demand areas as well as trend lines. I like to use the 60 minute for supply and demand levels.


I used Metatrader for a few years so stepping back into it was easy. I have a live MT4 account with MB now and have to fund it yet. Will do that once I get ACH transfer set up and am happy with demo results with the THV... Pretty happy so far. Had it down to $9300 trying some other stuff and with THV I brought it up to almost $12,200 in 3 days with this system. $2900 in 3 days trading nothing but a single standard lot... "Stress free with THV3"... Hmmm my new signature LOL

It worked wonders taking these higher probability signals and trading my live account last 2 days too. +125 pips between A$ and E$ today.

Of course nobody can say how this is going to pan out in the end, but previously taboo options are fast becoming accepted reality so I suppose everything's on the table now really...whatever happens the euro looks like being caught between a rock and a hard place and weakens whichever way it goes.

Apparently I missed a lot of drama the last few days lol. I login this morning to find the thread almost resembling the EURUSD thread lol.

Anyway, back to the eurusd pair, looks like it won't close below 1.3500 today, so I think we get a real nice gap up Sunday night and probably a good potential short setup again around the 7pm to 9pm EST time range.

What does everyone else think?
