WTF I've just come across all this BS !! Can you PM me with the Twee email address as well please.

I'm not quite sure of all the ramifications of this but it doesn't bode well for FF.

Steve, if you go for a private forum please count me in, your selfless work is second to none !!! without you and the other top minds that work with your threads and their ideas here I would be getting nowhere.

Best regards R

If there was some discrepancy it would have been a really good thing to have contacted Steve personally first rather than just come down with boots on the head.
Not everyone in positions of management is sensitive like that to the delicate nature of interpersonal relations.
Communication is a great skill and science. Desire for power gets in the way. Real power has nothing to do with force.

Steve,

I'm so sorry that you are on the receiving end of some unpleasantries. I've not been in FF and trading of late due to poor health and today when I visited, I still see glaring evidence that you've been continuously busy at work knocking up EAs FOR FREE for us in this FF community.

I appreciate all your efforts and generosity. When I'm feeling better, I would certainly like to continue to learn from you and from those that you craft EAs for.

God Bless and hopes everything turns out for the best.

_Roger

I find it hard to believe that FF as a commercial venture would treat one of their main contributors here like they have... totally unacceptable in my view! Just imagine FF, if Steve decided to leave this forum, there are many that would leave too, the main reason i and many others visit FF is to see what EA Steve has coded for FREE. I hope things turn out for the best

...I post here as it is an active thread at the moment

I picked this up on another forum.

I have no proof it is accurate but it does make interesting reading.

and here is an example of one of my trades and as the log clearly shows my provider changed the price I had opened the order at .
I have deleted the acct details to hide my broker . I did bring this up with them and don't believe I ever got a refund on this one but have on many other left field things .
It was only for 2 contracts so 2 bucks a point .
I often trade 5-8 bucks a point on many trades but at new highs or when really unsure I shrink size [potential loss/profit ]back to a few bucks a point .

Order was clearly to buy 2 dax on stop at 5571.25 and was opened at that price yet when I go to close I see the opening price was altered to 5575.25 . Which was about the top of that range so I wait a few seconds and close at a loss when I should of been able to close that trade at 5575 ish at a small profit .
For those who don't understand the log the order is read from top to bottom .
Pending order was to buy 2 dax on stop at 5571.75 ,
request was accepted
order was opened [long 2 dax at 5571.75 ].
order number __ - - - was opened to buy 2 dax at 5571.75
but when I WENT TO CLOSE THE ORDER and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't showing a profit but in a fast moving market and doing 20 odd trades a night I initially thought I must of done a typo on my entry price .
But as u can see when I went to close the trade it clearly shows the price which I opened at was IN FACT now 5575.75
[21:15:02 '': order #- - -- -- buy 2.00 DAX30 at 5575.25 sl: 5551.25 tp: 0.00 closed at price 5568.75]

You are extremely cynical.

I like that in a man

However, I think the truth is probably more mundane. I suspect (with no evidence whatsoever) that the member who was throwing a tantrum on another thread recently is to thank for this. Fittingly his initials are B.S.

Yeah, the way that's worded, we are about to lose EVERY coder on FF. This rule badly needs to be re-worded.

Steve,

I support you whole-heartedly! You are an amazingly talented and generous contributor here at FF. Thanks for all you do!

Email:

"Hello Twee,

I am writing in support of Steve Hopwood -- and, I think, in support of FF -- when I say that I hope you can come to some arrangement with Steve.

He is THE reason I am here on FF. The FF community and the FF site commercially all benefit from his efforts.

Rather than being a "commercial offering", I see his comments on charging for private bots incentivizing traders to make their systems free for all the users' benefit here at FF. Hence, FURTHER increasing FF's value.

I also see it as "de-incentivizing" all the time wasters and entitlement mentality hand out seekers (and those potentially just selfishly motivated) from wasting Steve's time. This also enhances FF's value by freeing him to do the work on the REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF.

I would ask that you compare Steve's offer with that of Hanover's. (Who is another FF hero of mine -- they are the only 2 here that I try to read EVERYTHING they post.)

Hanover is a professional programer who is manifestly trying to sell a product. Nothing wrong with that! More power to him.

Contrast that with what Steve is saying. I feel his offer is not truly commercial in nature. In fact he refers business TO Hanover! In stating his reasons for making his offer, Steve reveals what is really going on.

I hope you can see past a potential technicality, and come to some agreement. FF would be near dead to me if Steve was to leave.

Hope this finds you well,

Rick (ironrick)"

I have the bot going on the 1 minute chart, EU and UCad. Pretty much default sets.

As you know, these tend to run opposite. During the last hour or two, has been very volitile and ranging. There have been some biggish losses, that have been partially offset by some small profits. I think that will help drawdown a little, until the market sets a general direction and the pairs start moving in unison.

Also, have opened the UChf and AU, which also should move opposite (although you can't really count on the CHF these days).

I am thinking losses will be made back up really quickly when every nulls out.

I also have the UJ open with the Recent Strength filter on. . . using the 30 min for RS filter. Hasn't opened, and I really don't expect it to. Looking at the RS, the Yen and Dollar are running pretty much in lockstep today.

I plan on working the bot on the 5min later.

Will let you know what happens,

Shake

by the way, noticed that the stop line doesn't erase off the screen right away when a trade closes. Doesn't make any difference, purely asthetic.

I think maybe on the 1 minute, changing the Break Even from 20 to 15 might help.

I am running the bot as follows:

Original bot on 1 min chart: 1AM EST to 11 AM EST then 1 pm - 3PM. Using MPTM JS at 15 pips adding BE profit 5 pips. In doing so I am trying to avoid the whipsaw in Asia and the retrace that comes with the closing of London.

Current Bot: 5 min chart; same time of day. Have not decided on an MPTM values yet.

I think it is key to find some values to lock in profits with this bot. The reason being that this market moves with every rumor and fart in the wind. I am not sure if using an ATR value or JS or TS is best. Time will tell.

So far both demos are in profit. I will set them up on myfxbook when a statistically significant number of trades has been executed.

One thing about restricting trades to specific time periods. If a trade is open when outside trading hours, it is no longer governed by the bot. Does anyone know a tool whereby I can close all open orders at specific time periods? i.e. close at 11 am and close at 3pm?

Are you sure you want to just close trades? If you do, you can modify the bot to add a line of code in the start() proc. You want to add a call to CloseAllTrades() as follows:

Inserted Code
      //Trading times
   bool TradeTimeOk = CheckTradingTimes();
   if (!TradeTimeOk)
   {
      CloseAllTrades();
      Comment("Outside trading hoursnstart_hourm-end_hourm: ", start_hourm, "-",end_hourm, "nstart_houre-end_houre: ", start_houre, "-",end_houre);
      return;
   }//if (hour < start_hourm)

I think a better solution would be to continue to manage them and not enter any new trades. That would require bigger changes to the code or the use of MPTM on a different chart.

George

Thanks,

The problem with using MPTM to manage the trades when the bot is shut down is not when the position is in profit, rather when it is going against me. When the opposite signal emerges, the bot does nothing because it is not active during that time. I do not want to use MPTM to place a SL because I do not want that working when the bot is active. I would rather close all positions when the trading bot is outside my time frames.
